First of all you should do the SAPTEC. (for the case you never did something with basis)

You should ask your company to send you to this trainings.

The BASIS is the administration part. first you can get the permission from your company. You can start from ADM series like basic ADM100

In my opinion 1st we learn architecture of sap .

after that some basis t codes system monitoring and user creation.

trying to install and configure IDES may help,

you will come to many problems during that,

after you overcome them all, you may get a scope of basis

then read some book from SAP Press or articles from SCN

i think everyone should know some basis knowledge even though he does not major in basis
