Hi,
Not sure if this the right place to start a discussion / ask a question however here we go.....
I'm currently a Graduate of Newcastle University in Computing Science and I'm going back in October to begin my Masters Degree in Bioinformatics. Now that my background is out of the way....I'm working over the summer at a large chemical plant, automating some of the processes they have with analyzing data extracted from SAP.
Working, albeit in a very limited way with SAP has given me the spark of inspiration to investigate what I'd have to do to pursue a career around it. I'm competent in learning new programming languages, have experience with Database theory and will have worked in handling large data sets following my MSc.
Can anyone give me any advice in how I'd go about pursuing a career in ABAP programming / SAP Consultancy?
Much appreciated

Hi Andrew,
If you are good in programming languages, I do not think ABAP is a tough job for you. I understood from other colleagues, ABAP is comparatively easy when compared with other programming languages. Please note that there are already number of ABAPers filled in the market. You can also look into other areas like HANA or BOBJ.
Please check with your employer if they are going to sponsor you for SAP trainings? or do they have any internal training sessions?
In my opinion, it is always good to have a ABAP background.
Please let me know if you have any specific questions.
Best Regards,
Ravi
