Hi Sweath,

In my opinion its better to shift your career SAP BASIS from system admin. I have seen guys shifting in SAP BASIS from system admin and they are doing remarkable jobs.

In case you decide to shift your career in SAP BASIS then go for system monitoring first. This will help you in understanding the system behavior and system criticality which will later help you  in troubleshooting SAP BASIS issues and will also give you better idea and  understanding . Monitoring is backbone for SAP system and a must do activity for SAP BASIS admins. It will give you very nice about SAP BASIS and more practical knowledge of system behavior which is very important. After that you can go for handling normal issues of systems , trouble shooting SAP systems and doing activities like System refresh, system copy,  patching, installations etc. slowly you can take your career forward in right direction.

I can share all these things with you as I also started my career as SAP BASIS admin and in the beginning of my career I had done system monitoring which helped me grooming my career in later stage.

You can get back to me anytime through this forum for any queries or doubts.

Regards,

Utkarsh
