Switching from Senior Java to SAP

Hi Experts

  I have been researching for a little while. I am an experienced Senior Java Programmer/Architect with over 15 years of experience. I am planning to switch over to SAP and SAP Hana is particularly interesting me. I had few questions and would request SAP experienced folks to guide me. I do intend to get trained in Hana and slowly expand learning in to other areas. I was looking for more information on which is good area to focus on which would potentially have good opportunities in coming future in terms of SAP module. How long with my past experience would it take for me to go out and perform on a job.

Is SAP HANA a good entry point or is there something else i can  pick up on. I plan on being a consultant. Besides making career in SAP, decent hourly rate in given areas is also one of the focus. If all you experienced folks can chime in, your help with the direction is highly appreciated.
