Switch to SAP BW HANA from ABAP HR

Hi folks,

I am having more than 7 years of experience into SAP ABAP HR worked on all the new technologies like HCM P&F, workflows, ESS/MSS, Adobe forms etc.,. Currently there is an option for me in my company to switch to SAP BW on Hana and Tableau reporting side. Is it good to move to reporting side considering my expertise in HCM technical space. As per the recent market trend HCM is slowly moving towards cloud solutions like SF, so is it good to stay in HCM technical side or is it good to Analytics side? Please provide your insights.

Hello,

I think there is still good future for HCM side with the advent of HR Renewal and things like Fiori, so there is no end in the near future. But BW side is also good provided you need to spend some time for learning may be 3-6 months.

If you have option to switch to BW, I think it is good to move as it will give you chance to learn something new and explore in new areas. more over I think there is pretty competitive ness in ABAP HCM area, so if you are good at more than one area that is still useful for your future.

I will wait to hear for what other mentors would say..
