Hello Buddies,
I am having sound experience in ABAP and Workflow. I would like to have your expertise opinion on What is the most feasible way to Switch over from one module say (ABAP) to some other module (BI, CRM tech, EP) :
Self-sponsored Certification OR
Wait for chances within Organization OR
Look outside market on basis of conceptual learning only.
Or Any other better option if I am missing , Please advise.
Warm Regards,
Nidhi Singh

Hi Nidhi Singh,
In your case, this is totally based on your involved projects and its integrated modules(Functional modules) in your career till now but I will suggest you 3 modules to your further career as ABAP consultant.(As per my knowledge)
1. If you have involved in CRM module in any of your previous projects then better to go with CRM Technical module. (Advantage: One of the Best module in Market)
2. If you have interested in web based applications, designing web pages then you can choose webdynpro abap with EP. (Advantage: You will get Onsite opportunities quickly)
3. If you want to work in report analysis then you better to go with BI ABAP. (Advantage: Multi technical skills keeps you always having employment).
ALL THE BEST Nidhi Singh.
Thanks & Regards

Thanks Dev and PVS
I have learnt Web Dynpro and CRM Web UI but getting no positive response within Organization as I am having no real time exposure. So my concern is - How to grab opportunity on the basis of learning&practice only.

Hi Nidhi,
There are 3-4 modules available for technical ..
If you are interested in Functional, then you will get a better option...
There are many modules for functional..
As I am a MM consultant, I can concern you to go with functional module..
As also you have the knowledge of ABAP, so you can become a Techno-functional consultant..
In Functional modules, the3 modules are very very popular MM/SD/FI..
Maximum of all organization needs these modules..
In these days, In all over world, these modules are very very popular.
So now as per your interest.. You can choose one of them...
Best of luck...

Good Question.
I have been grappling with this question for a few years now. Although my primary skill is ABAP, I have hand-on experience in SAP BI (thanks to a course I undertook outside my organization based on my interest) and also knowledge in HR-ABAP and BSPs.
But I always get considered for only ABAP-related projects in my organization. The reason is I belong to the ABAP practice in my organization and hence I get only ABAP projects. To make matters worse, there's hardly a communication between different Practices in our organization and resource-sharing is almost unheard of.
I was lucky to work in an ABAP-BI project thanks to initiative I've taken to learn BI outside the organization. A certification might help too but Im too lazy to sit and study.
I suggest to do the same and hope to get lucky.

That's a shame, as a good programmer can really add value to any BI project.

Thanks to all of You for responding . I discussed these options with my Development Manager and things seem more feasible with Web Dynpro and/or CRM Web UI. My organization launched internal certification(free of cost) for these as well...so now I will try to utilize that option too.
