Hi,

I am all new to SAP. I graduated last year with software engineering degree. I have been working as a web developer for over 3 years as a freelancer.I am looking for a direction to my career and web development doesn't pay that much. So I started looking into other options like oracle and sap development and so forth.

I need your advice on what path should I choose. I want to start career in sap but I am new to all this and hence confused. Coming from development background should I take the path of SAP developer. Or consultant? What option will be best for me. And more importantly where to start? I guess I will have to start training and certification? I would really appreciate if you people can give me guidelines on where to start and what path to choose considering as a beginner.

Thanks a lot

Ahmar

Hi,

If you know any programming Language you can opt for sap-abap which itself have many specializations,

if you are interested in Administration you can opt for sap-basis

if you have understanding of Business scenarios you can opt for sap functional modules.

Finally your interest will guide you to right path.

Hi Ahmar,

If you already worked as Web developer then the good option would be SAP UI5.  You can go and check SAP UI5 & OpenUI5 which SAP given SDK.

Check this out because you already well versed on HTML5 then this would be best option for you.

Hi Ahmar,

as you are from a software background, so you can choose SAP as your career option, there are many

modules in SAP where your previous coding skill will provide you an advantage at some extent. Now comes to some point related to SAP, please remember that it is a tough task in SAP  world to get a job as an fresher (but its not impossible). So, prior to taking any step ahead you should think about the pros and cons of that.

In SAP a basic module for developer is SAP ABAP, its not mandatory to get the knowledge of abap for its related technology, but while learning any new technology, if you are familiar with its syntax and semantics, then it will boost your future and career ahead.

So, i will suggest you to learn SAP ABAP first, so that you will became a hands of experience with the processes involved in SAP. Then you can switch towards Either Webdynpro of UI5.

If you have any further queries, please revert , i will be glad to help you.
