Hello Rakesh,

As Seshu told you should try for SAP testing, somehow you can use your 3 year of testing experience in SAP also. And if you don't want to continue with testing then you should try for some functional module of SAP.

Hello Rakesh

Adding to Dev's Comments:

Techno Functional Kinda testing will definitely add a to your current profile, if you want to switch to SAP.

Strong Functional knowledge in Few Basic Logistic Modules(All Configurations/Master data) & debugging skills to see but actually you are testing beneath the transactions/Business processes will help you to up-skill your past testing experience in SAP.

From your past experience/learning you can use test techniques and test differently and effectively.

In SAP, testing is more on Business processes.

Nisha

Hi

Adding to Dev and Seshu inputs,

SAP testing consists of manual testing and automation testing.

Companies use manual testing and implement automating possible test cases by different tolls .Ex:

HP QTP , SAP TAO.

To start with functional testing , we need bushiness process and knowledge to test all possible scenarios. For automation , we need to learn the tool how to automate the test scripts.

Let me know if you have any questions. All the best.

Suresh

Hi Rakesh,

I really like your aspiration and courage to shift your career after you travelled so long in testing.

Like others pointed out so can become a SAP Tester (ONLY if you want to) because it would be easier shift rather than moving into Functional, Why I'm saying Functional rather than Technical because it needs a lot of effort for you from now on to understand the coding , OOPS concept and later learning ABAP language which is called TECHNICAL (unless otherwise you have done automation testing)

Are you working in the same domain (like FMCG, Insurance, utilities etc...) for three years ? If yes, you might have become expert in that domain so got to search for the Functional area which is more likely towards your domain

You can look within your company for SAP testing or try outside, Let's start with this as first step then you like continue else keep aspirations floating and choose a specific Functional area like (CRM , SD, ISU) and move on..

Hope this answer you question.

Feel free to reply back if you have any clarification, I will try to help your pursuit of switching your career.

Thanks & Regards

Rahaman.

Hi Rakesh,

You are working on Testing for last 3 yrs, I suggest you to move on SAP Testing. This helps you to move in the same area.

In SAP:

Technical Module : ABAP( Developers )

Functional Module : SD, MM,FICO ( Consultants should have domain experience )

Hi All,

I am having 6 yrs exp in Software testing field. Completely involved in Manual testing (Healthcare domain). I tried to learn automation testing but it needs programming knowledge which i dont have. So, i am also looking for an opportunity to learn something which could make me to excel in this testing field also it should be coding knowledge free. I came to know from all these posts, that Sap testing would be the better choice. So please suggest which module i can choose since I worked for Health care domain.

Hi Kavi Sugumaran,

Even for SAP testing you have to learn automation tools and coding is involved. There is no code free tool in testing.

For SAP testing you should have knowlege on certain Functional modules in SAP.

Please don't ask a question as a comment in a thread that is from 7 years ago (and was started by a Former Member).

The best way to get answers is to ask a new question, as you did here: https://answers.sap.com/questions/13557757/shifting-from-software-testing-to-sap.html.

Kind regards,
