SAP usage in Canada- Ontario

Hello everyone,

I am a CPA. I am new to SAP or any other high end software. My end goal is to work at any government organization- Municipalities, Transit, Metro.

I am wondering which software is used at such organization- SAP or Oracle?

My second question is what should be my starting point if I want to learn SAP and become SAP certified. My current employer won’t pay for anything.

I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for visiting SAP Community to get answers to your questions. Since you're asking a question here for the first time, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with https://community.sap.com/resources/questions-and-answers (if you haven't already), as it provides tips for preparing questions that draw responses from our members.

Should you wish, you can revise your question by selecting Actions, then Edit (although once someone answers your question, you'll lose the ability to edit the question -- but if that happens, you can leave more details in a comment).

Finally, if you're hoping to connect with readers, please consider adding a picture to your profile. Here's how you do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5JdUbyjfMA&list=PLpQebylHrdh5s3gwy-h6RtymfDpoz3vDS. By personalizing your profile with a photo of you, you encourage readers to respond.

Hi Pramit,

if you are CPA and want to learn SAP try to get hold of an account on a S4 system and try to post a journal entry there. at least, this is how i got started some 20 years ago. Oracle is now mostly Hyperion for accounting purposes and both co-exist happily in large organizations. Oh, and employers rarely pay for your continuing education unless they can have their clients pick up the tab.

Happy reconciliations,

greg
