SAP Tech e.g. ABAP for people with non IT Background

My current position: I am a BA graduate. Working in BPO for years though i never want. I know multimedia works in ADOBE softwares like motion picture editing, compositing & designing etc. That was a hobby but couldn't turn that into a career because of very limited scopes and less salary.

My current aim: Now planning to make my career in SAP tech like ABAP as i m interested more into developing, programming works. After a lot of search, I atleast got to know that career is good into SAP ABAP (if I am not wrong).

My query: Can I do SAP tech like ABAP and make a career as I have no IT background. If ther is any course prerequisite to be done like programming/ coding etc. before doing a SAP ABAP module. Please let me know. I'd be thankful for any detailed reply or beginning steps.

Please help me make my career....

Regards,

Bryan

Developer jobs always look glamorous and attractive, specially for the non-developers. Anyone who wants to be a ABAP developer should have to make a wise and informed decision to avoid dissapointment.

Here you have to keep in mind two things

1) Firstly will you be able to master the subject

2) Second how practical is it to get a job, after learning abap.

I feel that if someone has not gone through any kind of programming syntax & pl/sql programming earlier in their career, its going to be a pretty tough thing to be good at abap.

This is totally subjective question <and we dont know much of ure background>, its better u discuss it with some ABAP consultants face to face.

Hope it helps.

If you have no IT background, it will be difficult to break into ABAP programming. I would try to get an entry level position in an SAP shop and then try to get some training and finally look for ABAP work in that shop.

Difficult but possible?? I'm ready to face the initial difficulties to bring myself into the required level however long it takes.

I want to know how I'll do that. Shall I do any course or trainings to be able to start with SAP ABAP. If yes, what knowledge I should acquire first.

Thanks.

Well..breaking in to SAP is a tough task as people having less than 3 years of exp. are not getting any calls . But i would suggest youu to go ahead with coaching and look for job on client side, gain some exp. there and then switch to consulting companies.

But coaching instutes do not provide much of the needed information as the faculty is not good. So, again its a tough task. You need to depend on your own studies too.

Nothing is impossible if you are ready to make it happen.

Best of luck !!!
