Hello,

Iam in sap support. Taking care of CR;s only. I got a CR which involved issues with MRP run. two three issues. We do not have any SAP PP consultant. Never done MRP run and if I start learning PP now, My other Logistics CR which I have knowledge will be effected.

Dont you think it is unfair to be asked to look into MRP issues?

what Should I tell management ? Iam An SD consultant with 10 yrs exp but never done MRP/PP

regards

sachin

If I were in your position, I would love to handle multiple modules as it is a chance for me to explore in many areas and more than that, it is a best chance for me to equip better at free of cost. Please don't isolate with a particular module; take up the challenge whatever be and handle it with joy and at the end of the day, if you are able to provide solution based on your self-learning, you will feel the happiness

It's a scenario faced by many at their workplaces and can be handled differently, depending on one's circumstances. I have shared some thoughts, at the link provided below, on how to deal with situations where one is assigned with the tasks beyond his/her core/original job.

Hired for a skill, evaluated for another

I hope it can help you.

why don't you learn MRP ?

good luck

being a PP guy, I do some MM, SD and even FI things.

no drama

P.S. being a consultant never say 'never done'

Hello Mr Oleg,

this is what iam saying. If i start to learn MRP, then it will take time but we have a delivery date for everything. If I need to deliver a CR in one week, then it will take 3 weeks and other CR's will be effected !

learn it yourself without any SAP or non-SAP courses (do not pay money)

use the free time (I do believe you can find it if you really need) even during you work hours. it is not easy but possible.

this will be your own investment which would help you in a nearest future/tomorrow.

Thanks Oleg for motivating words. One thing I need to learn is serial number management. Do you know the sap course number of the same. !

I have already shown you the direction on this particular question. I am sure, if you go through the standard documentation and other OSS notes shared by me there, that will give you fair idea in handling the particular CR.

Looking at SAP source you can check this link:

https://training.sap.com/trainingpath/Applications-Planning,+Manufacturing,+Execution-SAP+ERP

However, using Google you can get some useful information in regards "SAP + serial number management". Just try to find out.

good luck !
