Generally techno-functional consultant has the knowledge of both technical and functional module.
If you want to become a techno-functional consultant, then you need to know about the all technical and functional knowledge and experience.
As you have worked as a SAP MM Functional consultant, then you need to know about the technical things about business process.
Also you need some coding knowledge which is in the ABAP module.

so are you suggesting me to gain knowledge in SAP ABAP i.e. IDOC, LSMW,ALE?
Are there any other technical module in which i can make expertise to become technofunctional consultant instead of ABAP.?

Yes. I am talking about the knowledge of ABAP module.
How the user exit or badi is working, how a functional module get involved into a program etc etc.
You have to know the debug procedure very well.
You can read more on this thread
(Note: in this thread one user has posted his email id, but you should never do that)

I don't think it is possible to become a techno-functional consultant, you can avoid the ABAP knowledge, You have to work with coding. Its the main of technical part.

when i decided to become technofunctional consultant, the thing which came in my mind is that since the name is technofunctional, i have to gain knowledge on any one of the technical module in sap. because am presently a SAP MM CONSULTANT.
Kindly suggest me whether it is mandatory to gain knwledge on SAP ABAP or i can gain knowledge on any other technical modules.

Of course there are other technical modules in SAP. But the question is how will you utilize your abilities of being a techno-functional consultant?
You need to ask yourself, how and where an MM consultant can help an organization in a technical area, say, BASIS? Do you really think that an organization would let an MM person handle tasks like moving transport requests? Wouldn't that give you the power to move your own TRs bypassing the existing compliances?
And say you choose Security, you could assign yourself any role in any system - again breaking all norms and compliances.
Say you choose BW, even there your knowledge in MM is in no special way "tapped" to make the BW system better. This task will be better handled by a dedicated BW consultant. The same goes for BO/HANA/Portal developer or any other technical modules with the possible exception of ABAP.
Although there are different opinions about pros and cons of being a technofunctional consultant (meaning Functional Modules in combination with ABAP), I lean towards the group that feel technical and functional modules are best kept separated.

IDOC, LSMW,ALE are all of the instruments that should know functional consultant! It is general instruments
Start with it, because I can not imagine real project wiyjou using such things.
After that you can learn deeper ABAP in dubuging(must know), creation user-exits, exceptions, even simple reports
That s All things that make you from "Just some functional MM consultant" to "Professional MM consultant"(of cource if you participated n implementation projects)
It is the best for you in my opinion.
Another way, you need learn and prorgam deep in ABAP and try to retrain to ABAP programmer

Hi Sriharsh,
If you are not interested in ABAP then you can certainly try for gaining skills in Netweaver as it is the technical foundation for most of the SAP Applications. Within Netweaver, you can start with Master Data or Process Integration. This will add value to your profile and give you an opportunity to explore your technical skills.

Hi,
I think that for this goal, is very useful know ABAP (basic knowledge), debug process, data dictionary, LSMW and Query or Quick-View.
