Hi Folks,

Glad to be a part of the SCN community. I am current working in a BPO, I am really passionate about SAP and have a strong will to make my carrier in SAP.Right now I am working with technical support. I have completed my MBA - HR and want to know if SAP HR will be the right choice or to go with ABAP.

Kindly help.

Thanks!

Azra

Hi Azra

When you say you are working in a BPO what do you mean by that and what sort of work are you doing? Technical Support is a wide topic.

No one can tell you if ABAP or HR is better for you or a right choice (implying the other is wrong). Really comes back to what specifically are you passionate about when it comes to SAP?

Regards

Colleen

Hi Colleen,

Thanks for your response, I work with an IT firm in a calling process where in I help people deal with technical difficulties relating the laptop and solve their technical issues, in past i have worked with Dell ( hardware and networking ) where i was a technical support associate. My entire work carrier of 6 years have been  into technical and now as i completed my MBA HR i wanted to pursue my carrier in SAP.

the entire concept of SAP interest me however my friends are suggesting me to go for SAP HR as i completed my MBA HR and that will be into services which will be good, so please let me know what you recommend on this,

waiting for your opinion,

Thanks,

Azra Fatima,

Azra,

Going by your educational background, SAP HR (or in SAP terms - HCM) seems to be a natural choice. But beware of the following points:

- The industry mandates that candidates interested in any SAP Functional role must have some domain experience, which in your case means you should have worked as an HR Manger in some company for X number of years

- You will be considered a "fresher" in the SAP field and the job opportunities for freshers are few and far between

- An SAP Certification may help. But it is costly and does not guarantee jobs.

- Your BPO experience will not be counted.
