Hi All,
The reason i joined SAP community is to clarify all my queries before going into SAP career, to start with about my background i hv 6 mnths of experience in a consultancy as a HR recruiter and now i am working as a Executive - Human Resource wherein i m responsible for all HR generalist function .Since 3 months i m working for generalist profile but have not got hands on experience on all functions of HR yet ,now i am looking forward to do my SAP HCM certification i needed to know is it mandatory to have experience in all the functions of HR .. since i have read many blogs and articles related to SAP HCM in India there is lot of confusion related to the experience needed to appear for it .. i want to take my SAP certification asap but not that m so eager i will do it for namesake i want to do it perfect as my my future career depends on that ..another thing i m not so sound financially therefore wanted to know is there any loan facility provided by SAP partners for the certification fees or any other options.
If anyone can help me out when and how should i start up, which time would be good to take up my certification (but i need to do it asap due to some personal reasons ), what all experience in which functions is needed and the most important question how can i properly evaluate which certification would be best suitable for me on what all criteria should i select the certification.
All your responses and suggestions will be very much helpful and valuable for me to take up a right decision.
Looking forward for some valuable responses

Hi,
welcome to the SAP world.
There is no rule that need experience to do certification course, if you know HR functions it is easily understand while doing your course. you can take the course and certification exam from the SAP partner institutes check this in the blogs, already so many discussions are there for the institutions. Now a days minimum experience is 3+ if you are certified it is added advantage. no one is considering certified freshers now. they are asking minimum experience for certified candidates.
my suggestion is to take the course in small institute / small companies who are giving job assistance and learn all the functionality and then go for certification. certification will cost you 3.5 L and read that HDFC is giving loan for this under the sub scheme of Education loan.
check this one more questionnaire :
Best Regards.

Hi ,
Thanks for the feedback .. you said minimum exp nowadays is 3+ you mean i should go for the certification and gain experience into SAP or you are talking about the HR functional experience, and as you said i can take course in small institutes / small companies (they would be SAP education partner right ?) so is the fees structure varying as per companies and institutes even though if they are authorised SAP partners ? .. Thanks for letting me know the amount also about the HDFC loan facility its very useful fr me

Hi,
Small institutes / companies are not sap education partners. And find in your city for the SAP training institutes and go for demo classes and talk with the students too for better understanding and how they are teaching. if you specify the place of residence, may we suggest you if we have any idea in that area. see you have experience in Hr role and you know how the process is. just download the course pdf's from internet and go through it you will get some idea.
HR051 - HR Essentials 1
HR052 - HR Essentials 2
HR053 - HR Essentials 3
HR505 - Organisation management
HR305 - Configuration of Master Data
HR306 - Configuration of Time Recording
HR310/311 - Time Evaluation
HR390 - Introduction to Payroll
HR400 - Payroll Configuration
HR490 - Incentive wages
HR510 - Personnel Development

Hi Shruti,
Ravi sankar given good suggestion to you think about it. for sap certification there only two ways in india. 1 - study the course in the authorised centers and go for exam 2 - after getting 3+ yrs experience in SAP HR you have to submit the proofs from your organisation / project manager with you company letter head to appear for exam and fee only exam fee with taxes.
As ravi said so many certified freshers are waiting for job. so my suggestion is get some job in any company who implemented SAP then you will get more live exposure and study those materials. if you want you can join in any institute or configure demo version of sap and practice on your own.
Every one can suggest only, but the last decision is yours.
Best Regards.

Hi,
Yes i think that's a good solution i find it better to take 3+ yrs experience first and then go for the certification anyways i am not concerned about any certification i just want to get into SAP career and finally the job guarantee depends upon our own ability to work upon those.
Thanks a lot for your valuable time and suggestions.
Still if i stuck up anywhere and need to clarify anything i may irritate you all

Shruthi with 6 Months experience will not be helpful to you to start the career in SAP , unless you are a certified consultant So , please go to some SAP authorised institutes to completed the certification and start searching for the Job Exp :- Towards Payroll processing and Time managment will help you to fetch the job that too depending upon the market You must have some good mentor to guide you Note :- i have moved ur query from SAP HCM to Career Corner

I understand 6 mnths exp is not essential for SAP related job and my total work exp now is 9 months since i am working 6 mnths in recruitment and only 3 months in generalist profile jus wanted to know it this experience enough for doing the Sap certification because i have got many reference that we need minimum 1-2 yr exp in generalist profile to go for Sap certification and ya as you said a good mentor is truely needed at such time thank you for your feedback

Hi Shruti,
You are eligible to SAP Certification...No issue..... As you have 6+months of domain exp....
But I would suggest give some time before going for Certification.... As it demands huge investment....
If budget is a problem then
Join a Local Institute, get acquainted with SAP configuration Skills first & try to get job first even as End User..... this will make you understand HCM better....
After Some time say 6 to 12 month into SAP...you will be more confident & clear enough to crack SAP HCM certification course.... + .....you will be carrying SAP HCM experience before certification.....
Remember Getting Job into SAP domain is more important than getting SAP certified at present..............
So try to get job into SAP first... & then go for certification.........
All the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I Really appreciate that you are more inclined towards..SAP .....
You can go for SAP Certification..... at this stage ,,,,,, should not be an issue...
The main issue would be getting Job... You will be treated as SAP fresher at this stage with some Domain Exp... Say around 1 Yrs....
You being a recruiter knows the situation of Freshers in this world......
My suggestion would be if you could get into a Company where SAP is implemented where you can get some end user job as an added responsibility you will face practical problems... which will make you understand SAP better..
Slowly once you hole a grip on SAP environment. You can opt for SAP certification.....
Even SAP certification will not give you surety of Job.
Local Institutes costs around 16 to 30k.... (to minimize the risk of investment you can go with Local Institutes)
Course will be almost all same every where ....... rest depends on Trainer......
Generally they cover core modules like OM, PA, TM & PY.....
All the best!!!!!!!!!!

Veeram

Hi,
I understand how difficult it is to get a job as fresher but anyhow i want to start from the scratch just wanted to know when i am investing in these local institutes which are unauthorized can i be able to make up my certification later from an authorized institute.
Since the course is same everywhere it would depend upon us how we perceive it but still will my this experience be counted later ?
The cost seems pretty good enough for me to start of with Can you suggest me any good institutes ?
Thanks for the info

Hi Shruti,
Though you do not like my answers, but the reality is:
a) In India, SAP would not allow you for certification directly with your 6 months non-SAP experience. At this point, only you can write with training from SAP / ATCs.
b) No loan facilities will be offered by SAP / ATCs
c) I doubt whether banks would give any loan for SAP Certification / Training. If you are still interested you need to get gold loan / mortgage any investments or assets (thats what I did)
Regards,
Ravi
PS; SAP Certification is not a job guarantee program, there are hundreds of certified consultants (if not thousands) in the market without job. Therefore, please take a cautious decision before investing any amount, please do not take any hurry decision in desperation.

Thanks Shruti, you need to have relevant experience.
They have some rules like one or two years of implementation / support experience. Not sure about the current criteria, plus you should be employee of their partner for one year etc. Without fulfilling all their rules, you would not be allowed to appear certification directly in India. You can take big risk go for certification then it is a pure gambling. There is no guarantee you get a job even after spending huge amount. If you are lucky, you may get it, otherwise, you will be in the queue. Now decision is up to you what you need to do.

Ravi
