Dear Friends,

I am an B.Tech Computer Science cum MBA marketing & operations candidate who is about to graduate in a month. I have prior experience as BDE in an IT company for an year and currently interning at for 6 months in Service Sales. Now I have got the opportunity to work as an Sales Manager for creating new customer base, retaining customers, CRM, key account management, etc. in Just Eat e-commerce platform (Service Sales).

Questions:

1) If i get into this job & work for a year while getting certified on SAP SD or CRM modules simultaneously, what opportunities can I foresee in becoming a SAP consultant in the near future? Should I reject this offer and search for a job in IT Sales once again and work towards the same goal?

2) currently I have 1 yr of sales experience. How much more experience do I need to get into functional modules?

3) Do I need to learn technical modules like ABAP for an added advantage with functional modules?

4) I have been looking out for 1 year SAP University Alliance Programs abroad which offer practical implementation experience and also certifications opportunities. Is it a good option to apply for that? If yes, can i do it immediately or gain relevant experience before heading towards it?

5) Will I be considered as a fresher in SAP even if I gain relevant experience in my sales career?

Thanks You.

1. Don't reject the job. Its the best option.. but the problem is that , as you are not working in SAP, so I hope at initial stage, you will not get consultant designation.. but the experience will be added into your domain experience..

2. There are no required experience needed to get into functional module.. To become a consultant, you have to learn all configuration level for this module (Approx 3 years)..

3. Its depend on you.. But I suggest, don't go for more than one module at initial stage.. After 2-3 years you can go for another module.. But also technical will be not much better for functional.. you can learn CRM, SRM with SD.. ABAP will little tough for SD functional..

4. yes, you can apply ...

5. Yes.. you will consider as fresher at initial stage.. But your all experience will goes as domain experience... And it will gives you a value..
