Hi All,
Good Day Greetings!
I have 7 years of experience in AS400 (iSeries) technologies as a programmer. I have worked in various domains like casino, supply chain and retail. Currently its very tough to find chances for AS400 programming after 7 years of experience. and most of the clients are moving out from AS400.Due to this I am thinking to change my technology and I came across SAP forums and saw good postings related to my thoughts.
Please let me know is it good decision by switching my technology to SAP?

Hi Sujith,
please understand one thing, as sap abap is a pure programming language and it requires coding something similar to SQL, it has some special coding standards in terms of syntax and semantics,
and as you have programming experience, you will get benefitted through it.
The main thing in sap world is getting a job as an fresher is tough as compared to other technologies,
as i am also an abaper , so i know all the pros and cons in terms of getting a job as an fresher.
So, i will advice you to take training from any authorised sap training institute and search a job in any middle size company , because if you will look towards any MNC in starting it becomes handy in getting a job as an fresher, as you have industry exposure, so it will surely help you in achieving your goal, first learn sap abap, then search job through it, after some real time exposure in sap abap you can learn and move towards BW too.
If you have any doughts, feel free to ask.

Hi Sujith,
you are right, the furure of HANA is very good, and one more advantage what you will get is, there are so few people having exposure in HANA, so if you are switching towards SAP HANA this time, you will get more exposure as market of HANA is to be going on increasing in coming years.

Hi Sanjeev,
I am residing in Chennai and looking for centers in Chennai. I have checked Atos (authorized training center) and they were charging 3.5L for 7 days class for HANA but locally heard that unauthorized centers charging near 50K.. Please let me know what would be the differences between authorized and unauthorized centers and how it will reflect in training.

Hi Sujith,
when it comes to the differences between SAP authorised and unauthorised training centers, there are many differences, in an authorised center you will get training according to market needsm, based on real time projects and its not with unauthorised centers.
And also the quality of training is also trusted for authorised centers.
For other details about HANA , just google you will get many good posts.
Please revert if having doughts.

Hi Sanjeev,
Thanks for your reply. As of my entire career I got a chance to work in a Business Inteligence team for a Casino Hotel. They were using tibco as middlewhere and connected with as400, manframe and sql servers. I have done few enhancements in their business Inteligence modules (they are not using SAP BI.)
So planning to learn BI and then HANA. so it will be helpfull for me to buid my profile in BI side as well as Hana. What you think on this?
I dont have ABAP exeprience and I dont want to move to programming side either. thinking of concentrating on hana implementation and admin side.

Thanks Sanjeev, I am put up in Chennai. can you suggest me good institutes for doing BI and let me know BI functional or techynical suits for me.?

Hi Sujith,
i am sorry , i don't know anything about Chennai, you can search at Google for the same.
If you find any good name for authorised training center, ask to the councellor by talking about your knowledge and interest which module you should opt.

Hi Sujith,
There are also some very good online training going on with several SAP partners. Just go to Youtube and search for the SAP Module you are interested in and you will see many options
