SAP Basis or SAP Security?

Hi! I have a four years experience in SAP Security and now I'm working as a SAP basis consultant for two months only, however I got a higher offer with much better benefits but this post is for SAP Security Consultant. Now, I am confused what to choose? Continue my career as a SAP Security Consultant since I think that is my forte or continue as My work as a SAP basis consultant? Please help me to choose

Hi Edvinia,

As far as myself is concerned, i would say both are having it's own advantages and disadvantages.

SAP Basis,

I do love doing tasks related to SAP Basis which looks like Herculean task sometimes and will learn many things out of it. We need to have knowledge in OS, Database, Network to excel as a good SAP Basis consultant.

If you don't worry about work life balance then you can go for SAP Basis.

SAP Security,

Even though SAP security looks very simple to learn when it comes for a mass activities, we would need to use our mind. For Example, Creating 1000+users using scripts, changing 100+ roles using scripts, LSMW.

You can keep all the security stuffs which you have learned with you and start exploring Basis.

Hi EDVINIA,

It all depends on your own choice. both are good. you will get well challenging job in basis as compare to security. basis is very vast. if you like to learn new things and taking challenges basis is good option. In Security mainly you will get bore of doing same task every time., like create user, assign role..etc... but obviously it depends on project what you are working on. as project is of implementation or just support.

If you are working on good project in then go with basis only.

So take opinion from everyone and make decision wisely.!!

As you worked 4 years as SAP Security consultant. better to master in one module.

by that you will be more confident in your skill. and anyhow you are getting good offer.

so stay go for sap security.
