sap basis fresher

Hi everyone... I have 3+ experience as linux system admin and am planning to pursue sap basis in near future. Is it a good idea to choose sap basis or to continue as linux system admin ?  What about the job opportunities in sap basis ?  Please give me your valuable advise on this.

Hi Crife,

Having experience in Linux as a system admin is good for Basis. You should find out from the job portals and references about the job openings for BASIS consultants. If you have a good network of friends working in SAP especially BASIS then you would get a clear picture about the job market for BASIS CONSULTANTS. Also, you should use SCN for knowledge gaining on SAP Basis as well as build a good network of people working in BASIS.

Hi Crife,

Yes you can join SAP Basis ,as ppl from Database or Linus /Networking background  are always required in SAP Basis. Even i have joined this after having experience of 2.5 year in database background .Initially a company  may pic you  as a fresher for Basis ,but of course you can switch your profile completely in SAP Basis.Keep checking for openings on company's portal.
