Hi Mohan,

Its always good decision to add multiple skills. ABAP with BW is one of the hottest requirement on market. its good one. go ahead and get trained from sap authorized training center.

daily do keep practicing on IDES version and do test cases as per stated by your trainer.

Mean while keep log into SCN, follow the BW related forums/watch. its good to sharpen your skills.

If your already working then check with your PM is there any chances to learn BW. at MNCs some training will happens . if yes then enrole and attend it.

There are some famous books which can help you to understand better, Author Mr Fu Fu, book name as Mastering in BW.

One of the useful link on SCN.

Hi,

Yes BI with ABAP is hot cake in the market. You will definitely have an edge over others as companies do not have to be dependent on separate resource for ABAP while working on BI projects.

We do require lot of skillset of ABAP while working on BI so your prior knowledge on it will definitely come handy in such scenarios.

See Basically if you ask me then BW can be divided into three parts.

  1. Extraction(Business content and extractors)
  2. Modeling(SAP NW Business warehouse)
  3. Reporting (SAP BEx)

You can start building the concept with the basic knowledge of data warehousing and then gradually learning other concepts.

Lot of documents are already available. You may refer the one shared by Raman. It has lot of document links inside it.

Wish you all the luck.

Regards,

AL

Hi,

Then that would more than enough for you. enroll and spend daily one our to listen. try do unit tests/weekly test and after the completion of course they will conduct final test. As they said, if you get score above the limit(guessing as 50%) they will gave soft of copy certificate on BI course.

Its good add to your profile.

Thanks

Hello Mohan,

As Anshu, Raman said - SAP BI with ABAP market is good. Also by learning BI, you will be in the same path + both are technical modules. Good decision.

In ABAP you will have programming, the same you will use at any places like routines, enhancements, customer exits. You handled programming language, then you will feel BI is a bit easy and it is frame work. Much time you will spend in t-code RSA1, have a look at that .

Advantage with BI module is you will have a detailed material link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/84/497e436b8edba0ea9495/frameset.htm

Reply for further help. SCN is here to help you. Hope helps - Kumar
