which would in great demand in future ?

Take a look at SAP Career Blog Link blog. Especially the blogs under the "Blogs about the basics: terminology and information about specific subspecialties" section. ABAP is programming. If you have experience programming and enjoy it, then that's the way for you. Basis is system administration. If you have experience doing Operating System or Database system administration and enjoy that, then Basis is the way to go.

  • what is the future scope for ABAP and BASIS?
    • Both have solid futures. No differentiation between them based on future prospects.
  • for which technologies i can change to in future like sap hana, sap bi, sap crm, sap hr etc.
    • Both ABAP and Basis are technical. ABAPers work more closely with the functional folks than basis folks do. If you think you're going to want to switch specialties and migrate to a more functional role in the future, then ABAP is probably the better way to go.
  • which would in great demand in future ?
    • Same. Every SAP system needs ABAPers and Basis folks. You need more ABAPers then you do Basis, but that's led to more folks entering the ABAP field. I think the ratio of available folks to available positions is probably the roughly the same, though. (More positions for ABAPers but more folks with that specialty so ratio is 1:1 even if there are 100 positions and 100 applicants vs 1 position and 1 applicant for Basis)
  • which gets more paid and more onsite opportunities ?
    • On average, Basis folks tend to get paid more because the of the intense competition on the abap side. However, better ABAPers are going to make more than average Basis folks. Better Basis folks will make more than average ABAPers and average Basis folks. Are you shooting for the average? Doctor's get paid more than basis folks and drug dealers make more than doctors. Choosing your profession based solely on the profit potential leaves a lot of room for future problems and career dissatisfaction. Follow your passion and the money will take care of itself.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
