Hi Experts,

I have an experience of 1 and half years in Android Development. Presently I am doing SAP Certification for ABAP module and planning to make a carrer in SAP. Can you please guide me as to how I can use my Android Development experience while doing job for SAP ABAP. Any specific module that I should opt for.

Thanks You in advance.

Regards,

Swapnil Gunla.

Hi Swapnil,

If you have taken a close look at SAP Applications, you can find that Android apps are being developed and used for several SAP modules. Knowing Android and SAP ABAP would be a plus for you to enter into the SAP World.

You can also have a look at http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/mobile/Android

Best Regards,

Leon

Hi Swapnil,

It is unlikely that your android programming skills will transfer directly. SAP purchased Sybase and SAP's current mobile strategy is heavily based on the Sybase "Unwired Platform". While some of the concepts that you used to do your android programming will apply, the specific approaches will be dictated by the toolset. I recommend researching SAP's current mobile offerings at http://www.sap.com/solutions/technology/enterprise-mobility/index.epx and participating in discussions around mobile devices at http://scn.sap.com/community/mobile and http://scn.sap.com/community/mobile/netweaver..

SAP's Mobile strategy is not centered around any particular SAP module, so you won't need to work on ramping up any particular functional knowledge. ABAP is not the language of choice for SAP/Sybase Unwired Platform, so hopefully you have good .Net, Java, and/or C skills. There is a separate curriculum for programming on SUP, https://training.sap.com/us/en/curriculum/sup_dev_us-sybase-unwired-platform-sup-for-developers-g-en.

Hope this helps!
