Is this the right track for me?
SAP ABAP--->>SAP BI--->>>SAP HANA.
Can anyone guide me about how much experience will be sufficient to gain sap hana?

Hi,
Are you still working?
Whether your employer has any internal or external training?
If the answer is no, then please do not go for any training.Try to get job in ABAP.
If they are giving training, then use it and get the benefit.
If they are not giving training, then, think whether your financial position is viable? Are you able to bear the cost? If so, then go BI ==> BOBJ ==> HANA etc.

Ravi

First concentrate on ABAP or BI. Get some knowledge then move to HANA. HANA is new technology and very few clients are having same. Openings are less and clients mostly prefer sap experienced in ABAP or BI guys.

Hi,
It's a good approach to first learn BI then go for HANA. There are very few companies that have started using HANA so you can learn now and get certified on it. You need to keep working on improving your skill in BI and HANA. Later, you can also learn BI security if you are interested in.
Thank you,

Hi Nagarajan,
Thanks for your candid reply.
As SAP Hana is new being in the market from 2011,there some MNC companies do seek experienced people for it as i had doubt whether it is mandatory to learn SAP BI before doing SAP Hana and how much years after i should shift to SAP HANa AS CURRENTLY I AM FRESHER IN SAP AND JUST STARTED MY SAP JOURNEY WITH A SUPPORT JOB IN SAP ABAP MODULE

Hi RAVI,
TODAY ONLY I READ YOUR POST RELATED HOW A FRESHER CAN BE A EXPERT SAP CONSULTANT.
FRANKLY SPEAKING AS I HAVE JOINED INTO A SUPPORT JOB AND CURRENTLY I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER THE COMPANY PROVIDE TRAINING TO ITS EMPLOYEES.
PLUS FINANCIALLY I AM NOT THAT TOO STRONG TO PUT A BIG AMOUNT IN SAP BI,BOBJ training through atos or genovate.
But taking your advise i will make sure to through training of bi and bobj through local training centers and then go for training for sap hana thru authorized ones.
Pls do guide me
Thanks & Regards,
SAUSAP.

Hi,
I would say BI knowledge is not required to learn HANA until and unless you are going to work on HANA on BW project
Get the knowledge of BODS as it is going to be used for replicating data into HANA and especially if its Big Data and Unstructured data
You can also learn BOBJ as Ravi mentioned as it would be used for reporting
Leaning SAP Lumira will also be helpful
As a HANA Consultant i would also like to mention one more thing that in HANA SPS5 SAP introduced XS Engine to create light weight Web Applications and its now a very important part of HANA and to learn this - you need to know JSON, JavaScript, OData, SAP UI5, JQuery and HTML5
It might be better if you learn ABAP ON HANA : for this also you will find info in my blog
To learn more about HANA, check my blog :
You can also know more about HANA and ABAP On HANA in the OpenSAP online course being conducted free by SAP :

First of all, All modules in SAP is running very well in various industries and also job market for all modules are very good. You are looking about HANA, I heard, HANA is the most popular module in SAP.
Now as per your career and choice,
Module chosen is totally depend on yourself.
I suggest read the all basics about SAP and SAP modules. Then you can choose the perfect module as per your career.
I just want to suggest if you read about SAP and if you choose SAP module yourself, then it will be much better for your module.
Take suggestion from everyone, but choose whatever you and your heart likes.

Hi,
It is always good to have some knowledge in BI and BOBJ,if you are going to learn HANA.Some BODS knowledge also required.you can not do anything by learning HANA itself. Even if you go for HANA training they will start with the basics of BI, BOBJ.
Regarding training you have to decide on your own, whether to opt for SAP authorised centres or local coaching centres.
