Hello All,

This is Dipanjan, I need your help in making a decission in my career path, so expect your support.

I am a B.Tech (IT) graduate, with MBA in system, and currently working as data analyst in Bangalore India, I have total 5 years of experience in which last 3 years in data analysis and 2 years in technical support.

Now I wish to move to SAP and for that I want to know which SAP module will be good for me and as per the current market scenario it will be easy to get a job on that domain.

Is is also necessary to complete SAP certification from SAP authorized center, for applying for the job or the training on the desired module will be enough for getting into a job?

Expecting your expert suggestion in this regards.

Regards

dipanjan

I will suggest you to join some functional module of SAP so that your data analyst experience also can be in use, because these are not related to too much coding part.

Functional module of SAP. like MM, SD, FI.

1. SAP  certification is not a job surety certificate.

2. No institute can make you assure that after certification you will will got job or they will provide you Job, if they are doing ask them to give the same thing in written.

3. Certification is not only required or not required thing to get a job.

All the Best..

Hi,

As per your above Comments I would Suggest you to go for SAP MM,

SAP MM

Here is a guide on how to start a career in SAP Materials Management (MM) Module. Learn how and where to get the training. SAP software in a nutshell is composed of three main functional areas, Financials, Logistics, and Human Capital Management. Under each one of these functional areas there are several sub-modules, which record and compute the day-to-day transactions of an enterprise. The data entered in the system is immediately available to all relevant modules for reporting or for further processing. This level of integration is possible because all modules use the same RDBMS, an ingenious database design known as Relational Database Management System. You might never hear the end of why SAP is so popular, but in my opinion it is because decision makers have the most current reports to take effective decisions for strategic steering of the enterprise. After all it is this value that make companies invest millions of dollars to use SAP as their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.

SAP Materials Management covers all tasks within the supply chain; including consumption based planning, purchasing, vendor evaluation and invoice verification. It also includes inventory, production planning, and warehouse management.

On job as a configuration consultant you will be expected to perform configuration work as per the blue print document. Usually there are several small and large configuration teams working on different parts of the business process. Everyone on the implementation project is supposed to complete his or her work on a very closely watched timeline. Its very much like a production line, the crew down the line cannot hang the door on the car frame until you put the door together and hand it to them.

I was an ABAPer before I became an SAP MM consultant. ABAP is the proprietary computer programming language, which SAP has developed to write all of its applications in. As a programmer I worked with functional consultants from all modules, but Materials Management always fascinated me the most. So I decided that as a natural progression of my career when it is time, I would work in the MM module as a techno-functional consultant.

Configuration is fun, all of the nuts and bolts come together in this stage of implementation and things begin to take shape. Stress is in the air and everyone seems to be in hurry and as the launch date draws closer things only get more exciting and challenging.

SAP has become popular and have a bright scope. It is a good idea to choose a career in SAP.There are many bests institutes which offers SAP training for students. But the place where you are going to study also matter a lot. It will add some value to ur certificate. So be careful in choosing it.

Hi Dipanjan,

Have a good look at the following modules (BI + HANA, BO, BODS, ABAP) and see if you like them. Based on your work experience and academics I think you may like technical module of SAP.

Cheers,

Hello,

Thank you all for suggesting me an option and also showing support that I can take SAP as my career option at this point of my career.

After going through different thought process I have decided that I will be doing SAP functional module SAP-BI, and also thinking at the same time will do SAP-BO with my own,

So will be possible me the learn SAP-BO by myself, while learning the SAP-BI from a training institute, and is there any online study material for both SAP-BI and BO, that I can refer to.

Dear, I will suggest you to not start with two module at time. Because as you are new to SAP, so just start with one module try to learn all concept of it. SAP BI is not so small. So i will say do try to learn all scenario come in SAP BI (can find on google) try to follow best practices for SAP BI. Once you feel now i am comfortable with SAP BI then try to learn other module ..

All the Best..
