Hello all,
I am seeking your candid/honest feedback as SAP professionals.
Having worked on project implementation teams, both as a functional analyst and superuser trainer, I find myself at a cross roads. Since working with SAP a number of years ago, I have gone on to other HRIS roles - including niche products and PeopleSoft.
Since my SAP experience is now considered out of date by recruiters, am wondering if its worth specializing again in SAP. Of course this would require getting re-certified which takes some time.
Do you believe that specializing in SAP, as opposed to gaining broad HRIS platform knowledge, is the best way forward for career opportunities?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Kind regards,
Achilleas

Hi Achilleas,
I'm not a very experienced professional to suggest you, but I'm putting forward my views.
If you feel that you will be successful in getting re certified, you may consider working in SAP field again.
Since you have worked across different domains, you must be knowing which one gave you most job satisfaction. I feel that you should move on with such domain.
Of course, there is no best way. It depends on what you will choose and how you pursue it.
All the best.
Regards
Nikhil

Hi Nikhil,
Thank you for your feedback.
I do appreciate you taking the time to answer. To be honest, I have enjoyed each of my roles with different domains. It seems however there are simply more opportunities with SAP.
With that, it also appears the market is flooded with SAP Consultants - some certified and others not - but both equally capable of providing value added services.
Because of this I'm questioning the value of being certified or not. Guess it's a question I will have to investigate further.
Thank you,
Achilleas
