Hi Friends,

I am currently in India and I am planning to move to USA next year.

In SAP FICO, I have 7 yrs of exp which includes 1 implementation, 5 support projects, two testing projects.

What are the changes to land a job in usa?

What are the extra skills that are needed to learned in sap fico & other skills to get a job in usa?

Currently how is the job market in usa?

Regards
Sridhar

Hi Sridhar,

SAP FICO is very competitive market. You will find number of people in FICO area.

You need to differentiate yourself to sustain in the market, therefore, you may have focus on special or niche skills.

In FI - Asset Accounting, possibly with PS, Treasury, Cash Management

US specific areas like (Lockbox, Bank Transfers files, Electronic Bank Statements, 1099 reporting, SOX Compliance Areas)

Please go through outgoing file formats in different countries.

Note 1704031 - FI:Replacement of the RFFO* reports with the DMEE trees

In CO - Product Costing, CO-PA, good if you know Activity Based Costing + bonus if you have PP knowledge

Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM)

If you have basic BI knowledge, better, you get hold of Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) 10.0

Hope this helps you.

Best Regards,

Ravi

Sridhar,

The job market in the USA for SAP skilled workers is still very strong. As a foreign national, it can be harder because many companies are not willing to sponsor the necessary VISA. Dice.com is a popular job board for technical jobs in the US, especially technical jobs. They put a monthly report out on the skills that are most in demand that go unfilled. SAP skills are almost always in the top 5, regardless of region.

Ravi is correct in saying that FI is extremely competitive. You mention that you have plenty of experience, but it's not clear to me if those projects were for US based companies or Indian companies. I'm no FI expert, but I believe the accounting rules and such do have some differences between various countries.

So you have some challenges, to be sure, but overall I'd say the market in the US is still strong as long as you don't mind moving to wherever the job is and are not fixated on one particular geographic location.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
