Hello Friends,
Myself Rajesh is certfied SAP SD consultant and have worked on SAP implementation, rollout and support projects in India.
Now im getting an opportunity to work on SAP IS Media in one of the top consulting firm in India. I would like to know what are the prospects on this solution of SAP.
As i m not familiar with this solution I would appreciate if an expert advise is given to me on whether it would be a good choice to shift to SAP IS MEDIA.
Thanking You.

Hi Rajesh,
Further to the response from Tim, our company is currently recruiting for IS Media consultant for two projects in mainland Europe. The first is in Czech Republic and the second is in Switzerland rolling out to Austria and Luxembourg.
Both clients are keen to engage IS Media experienced consultants and are chasing us every day. Rates are at a slight premium to 'standard' modules.
So currently there is a demand (in Europe anyway).
Hope this is of use to you.
Kind Regards
Scott

Hello Rajesh,
I'm not sure of the Indian market, but there are quite a few projects running in North America. I'm currently working with a couple of guys from India on a project in Canada and I know that the US projects are also staffing resources from India.
There is a lot of potential in the US market over the next couple of years and consultants and developers are currently pretty rare.
Anyhow, life is what you make it....

Hi Tim,
Thanks for your reply.
Even im promised a project in USA after one implementation in India.
For me it would be a shift from SD to IS media.Hence a big decision to take.
So i just wanted to be assure that there is sustainable demand for this solution in the world.
Also after doing few projects in IS media will I be able to get back to SAP SD , since i have only 1yr of SAP SD Implementation exp?
Best Regards.

The IS-M module is pretty much similar to SD so you will be able to reuse a lot of your SD knowledge. This does not mean that you will be an expert right away but it helps you understand a lot of things.
A company that is actively looking for IS-Media consultants should be proof that there is demand in that area. Switching back to SD shouldn't be a big deal in my opinion.

Hi Rajesh,
As per Tim advice you can take the chance to become SAP IS media consultant. In this there is two module 1) M/SD and M/AM, if you want to be in M/SD this is most similar to SAP-SD module. (M/SD is media Sales and Distribution) were M/AM is media advertising. So if you get opportunity to work in IS media you can take up the assignment. and later also if you want to come to SD you can come.
In my case also i have did one IS media Implementation and now i am working in Standard SAP SD.
If you have any query you can mail me bjana_sap@yahoo.com

Hello Scott,
I wanted to check whether your email on those 2 IS-Media requirements still hold good? Are these positions still available and do you have any other positions in Europe? Please advise.

Hi Scott,
I'm an experienced SD Consultant, started my carreer 10 years ago as an ABAP Developer, moved on to the Functional Area of SD 3 years later. Since then I have participated in a number of implementations and have also done support work in between (both in Africa and Europe).
In the last couple of months I joined a project currently implementing SAP for a Broadcasting company. So I'm gaining experience in the IS-Media and also Intellectual Property Management which sits in CRM. I agree that a lot of my SD experience has come in handy.
I was wondering about the viability of moving into this area and what projects i could potentially look to moving on to in a couple of months - both in Europe and America.
Any advice or contacts in this regard?
Thanks,
Melody
