Dear All,
I am Rajeswara. I hade done my Btech along with PGDM in Marketing and systems. I am working in the field of sales from last 6 years and now i want to shift to SAP SD. I got a mail from 101 ERP that they are offering online implementation project for 3 months where i will be working with their team under the guidance of a Teal lead and he will assign us the assignments and at the end of the project they will be providing a certificate and a reference. I have some clarifications for the same which i am mentioning below and please answer my queries.
1. Please let me know if this is a right approach to do a project and whether i will be getting a better exposure on the same.
2. How this will be benefit my career in attending the intervews and Will this increase my confidence level.
3. They are charging me Rs 15000 for the same and is it worth in doing.
4.How are the opportunitites for SAP SD in the market and with a 6+ years of experience in the field of sales, Do i need to start my career as fresher in SAp and the domain experience i am having will benefit me. What will be the starting package i can expect on the same.
Please guide me on the same and provide you valuable suggestions.
Thanks,
Rajesh

rrao,
Have you done any training (course) in SAP SD?
Or without any SAP SD training, you would straight away go for a project?
If you haven't got any training in SAP SD, then do not go for this.

Rajesh,
(1) Some companies may offer such type of project. It is useful for future reference if you really get LIVE project but another side it should not be fake promises. Kindly take care.
(2)As per second part of your question you cannot get good exposure by doing same. Good exposure can get by LIVE standard project implementation or you can get through as a power user.
(3) You may gain some confidence. Interview performance can improve by understanding the business concept clearly.
BEST OF LUCK
Thanks & Regards,,
Supriyo

1. Please let me know if this is a right approach to do a project and whether i will be getting a better exposure on the same.
For the above question, since you don't have other opportunity to get the real time exposure, which you would be getting only when you are working in real time company.you may consider to get some idea about the project process.
2. How this will be benefit my career in attending the intervews and Will this increase my confidence level.
you have no other option to get the real time exposure.
3. They are charging me Rs 15000 for the same and is it worth in doing.
This you need to check with people who have already done project from the same institute.
4.How are the opportunitites for SAP SD in the market and with a 6+ years of experience in the field of sales, Do i need to start my career as fresher in SAp and the domain experience i am having will benefit me. What will be the starting package i can expect on the same.
For SAP SD opportunities are good but competition is high, you must have some value additions unlike others. Your career back ground and Domain experience is good which will have some what value addition compare to some people.
And also note your domain experience will not be considered while deciding your salary, only SAP experience will be considered for calculating the salary. However, domain experience is required for Functional consultants.
Also note Certification is valid only if you have done the course from Authorized SAP institute ( Example AtoS, Gennovate etc)
Thanks,
Srinu.

Thanks Srinu for your valuable suggestion. I asked for the certification but thought it was too costly for me at this stage and this can be an useful one for me.
Please suggest me if i am thinking correct or not.

Yes don't worry just go ahead... You will definitely improve & learn about practical scenarios... Moreover you will be engaged in SAP SD environment...
They do have regular seminar's (Online) into SAP every weeks... You can attend it for free... This will give a platform to interact with SAP Professional..
All the best!!!!

rrao,
Before deciding, interact with the SD consultant (Lead) with whom you shall work.
Can he/she help you gain more competency? Can he/she explain well? make you understand the business-SAP SD "connection"!
If you join the SAP SD forums, read all posts, answer the questions posted - by reading the theory and doing tests in IDES.
Do this for 6 months, you shall gain so much of knowledge.
While contributing, follow members e.g.
These members might be able to guide you.
