Hi Members,
I have worked for almost 13 years now in Purchasing dept of 2 public sector oil companies using SAP MM module as end user. Now the job has become monotonous for me and theres nothing new to learn. I did SAP MM certification in 2016 and hoped to work in MM support team for the same company but somehow it did not materialize. After consulting some friends who are working in SAP domain, I decided to S/4 Hana Sourcing and Procurement(1610) training with Timespro and after completing the training cleared the certification exam on 30th April 2018. Since then, I have uploaded my CV in all the portals but in last 2 months just got 1 interview call from Infosys through Timespro which unfortunately I could not clear.
I am sure now that certification dosent carry much value. Only Implementation experience matters because everywhere they are asking for implementation experience. I even did not even get an interview call for the role of Ássociate consultant in S/4 Hana Sourcing and Procurement' from SAP itself although I did certification on the same.
Although I am not getting any interview calls, but still I wanted to learn more in SAP and master it. So I did two more Open SAP courses on SAP S/4 Hana and continued my daily practice on IDES server and listening and watching video tutorials on SAP MM. I am also planning to learn EWM now. But slowly I am feeling dejected and doubting on my decision now, whether I will be able to make a career in SAP. While my Tutor and friends said there are lot of opportunities in SAP Hana now, but I dont see much jobs. Even no interview calls. Please guide me.
Best regards,
Bivash

At the outset, hearty congratulations in clearing S/4 HANA certification. Don't loose hope and keep continuing. Since you are into purchasing for 13 years, no doubt, you have very strong domain knowledge but that only is not enough to crack into IT industry. While I am not sure, how strong you are in MM configuration but it all depends on how you show case your profile. The first page of your profile itself should have bullet points which should attract the attention of recruiters.
I presume you reside in India where the job portals do not give much importance to profiles unless you are ready to pay them some amount for drafting your profile, arranging interview etc.,
Since already some of your friends are into IT industry where there are internal referrals going on, I would advice you to ask your friends to upload your profile internally and let them follow up with their internal team whenever any suitable MM opening is there. Needless to mention, even if you are able to succeed in this, you need to sacrifice on your package as you would be treated as a junior resource in IT industry. Best of luck

Thank you very much for the useful tips.I will continue my SAP learning as I am finding it more and more interesting as I explore. Many concepts which were not so clear to me earlier have become clearer as I try to learn from the content available in various sources in Internet.Just hoping I will be able to put all this into practice and make a career out of it someday.I am ready to sacrifice my package to get into this field.Just hoping to get that break soon.
