Hi everyone,
I have got an admit into MS Finance in USA in 6 months of time. Parallelly I also would like to pursue SAP FICO, so that I can increase my chances of employability.
But I have a question regarding whether SAP Consultant is an IT job or an Accounting & Finance Job. Since for H1-B, I have to be working in the same field I have studied. Are there people in USA who are pursuing SAP FICO after MS Finance? Is it normal? Do they get H-1B VISA?
My plan - before getting into USA for my Masters, I would like to start working on SAP FI module and apply for certification after my first year of study so that I would increase my chances of employability once I complete my masters.
I was searching an answer for this & most people recommended me to meet a consultant in USA which is not feasible for me right now. Even though you feel it is simple, please answer the question as I am waiting for an affirmation to start learning SAP FICO even before I visit the University in USA.
Thanks in advance!

Hi - if you want to be an FI "functional" person, then it is a little of both - IT and Finance. It really helps to have an accounting background, in my view.
Instead of learning "FICO" I recommend learning S/4HANA Finance as outlined in these learning journeys:
And the best way to learn is to do the work in a support position (my opinion only here).
