Hi ,
Im a MCA Holder.Currently im working in a MNC in sales Team. Dealing with selling servers, printers using SAP as a end user.
I have 2.2 years of experience in the sales Team. Now im willing to migrate to SAP SD consultant.
I received some advise as those who are all done MBA in marketing they are suitable for SAP SD.And they advised me to learn the Technical ie ABAP. but i dont want to waste my sales domain knowledge. For SD MBA marketing profiles are preferable than other profiles??? Is this affect my interview & job change.Few of them told me SD is a old module try to study MM.
Kindly help to choose SAP functional or Technical.
Thanks in advance.

Rajkumar

Hi,
Its wise decision to step up into configuration from end user. Very well thought!!
SAP is a very unique ERP software application. All modules are having equally high weightage, no module is old or new.
To make career in SAP with any module, the prerequisites are given below :
1, Min 3 yrs domain experience (SAP experience also works) , It can suffice as you have 2.2 years experience
2, MBA, BE or equivalent techical degree,- Sales domain experience will work
3, Good Technical knowledge - MCA degree will work
As your domain experience is related to SD module, and you also have technical background, so according to your profile you have two choices ,
1. SD module :
This will help u to utilised your domain experience and SAP end user experience. you have more than 2 years domain experience , hence, it will help u more to understand Domain process with SAP ERP process. your technical background will also utilised in functional role. When u go with the entry level jobs the organization will ask for support/ implementation experience with SD. If not than entry level is difiicult. End user experience will not considered, however you can overcome this issue by doing certification.
2. ABAP module :
no need for Sales domain experience, as your MCA degree will only works for ABAP. It is purely technical module.
SAP certification will give bright future with good amount of earning. Certification will help u to understand the concepts when u'll be on job. Believe it , your domain experience will be so much helpful in SAP certification thats the only way you will get good job.
out of both, you have to decide what is your area of interest? you have to analyse that your 2.2 yrs of Sales experience was rocking or will be rocking with ABAP? that you have to decide and choose according to yout interest.
All the Best!!
