I am having a 5+ years of domain expertise of sales in Banking, Steel Manufacturing and Agri business industry. I have worked on different ERP system but not on any SAP ERP. Due to domain expertise I am having knowledge of pre and post sales process. Now I want to give a new direction to my career as a Functional consultant SD. Can anybody guide me to-do list for making such career ? I have researched online on SAP SD module but its too confusing that for which particular certification should go ?
Whether its right time to decide giving a new horizon to my career ?
What are scope available after SAP SD certification ?
Can i continue it with my current job ?

Hi
This is the same reply I just posted in another thread in SD forum.
This thing has been discussed many times. You have to sacrifice your prior non IT related experience but if you have experience related to some other ERPs thats gonna help you in learning SAP. SAP is different from others up to some extent. Its vast and very flexible ERP system. Future is always uncertain and one can never be sure about getting a job after certification. Some guys gets job even without certification and some guys have done certification years ago and they are still working as an end user. As a general there are more chances that you could get good opportunity if you have SAP certification and some practical experience as well. You can continue SAP learning with your current job but in this case it'll take time to learn and pass certification.
When you start career in SAP you start from scratch. Please check this blog where I have shared some tips and my personal experience as well. There are also many other blogs and threads in Career Center which can go through. This query was supposed to be posted in career forum and now some moderator can move it there. You'll get better responses from there.
