I am a 2.5 year experienced SAP ABAP consultant. All I have worked till now is on ABAP , some little exposure on HR ABAP and Workflow.
Now recently i am assigned to project as a EDI consultant. I am getting trained on EDI and will be working soon on EDI requirements.
I am enjoying this concept of EDI's very much.
The only doubt I have is , whether this change is positive for my career or not? whether i should stick to ABAP?
Please guide me.
Thanks.

Well Snehal what I feel is that the move totally depends on personal choice. Why I am saying this is not because I am into ABAP development for 10 years or I worked on EDI for one year or so. But working on a technology is all about one liking and enjoying what one is doing. I would compare EDI more with PI which is an SAP middleware tool and if you ask me my preferance I would go with PI since it is more robust and deeply integrated within SAP and is providing lot of solutions to the world outside SAP to integrate with SAP.
Well if you ask me then I would stick to ABAP and get to know more in ABAP and then build a career in it. Well after 10 years in ABAP I still feel there is some part still which I need to explore as SAP is big ocean and ABAP is one of it's stream.
I do not say that EDI is something you should not work on but since you have spent few years already in ABAP I think you should go ahead with it. But if you do not have a choice and have to take up EDI then it is up to you to decide. Again it is a personal choice and all depends on you which technology you like and decide to make a career in.
