Hi everyone,
Greetings!!
This is Lakshmi Narayanan currently working for an US based S/w concern in supporting an enterprise application (CA Spectrum). I wish to have a switch into SAP Basis to have job security and interest towards it. I've got nearly 3 years of experience in different support profiles. I've got certified in CCNA and completed SAP Basis training. Should that be good to have a switch over into SAP Basis now? Can anyone help me in providing SAP Basis certification course name (Associate level) and cost in India? Would that be a good idea to take up the certification and look into an SAP Basis jr level job? Can some one guide me through? Waiting for your feed back.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Lakshmi,
The best way to get into Basis is a combination of training courses and practical experience - that's what I did. If you've completed some basic training, get yourself on a second line SAP helpdesk in a large organisation so that you can surround yourself with experienced people who can guide you along. otherwise try to get on a project as a junior Basis person. Be prepared to ask for help and give it to your colleagues - that way they will be willing to share their experience. Expect to spend much of your time doing the basics - administration and transport admin. If you get those under your belt then you will have a sound basis to progress.
All the best,
Graham

Hi Graham,
Thanks for your advice. Trying hard to make a move into some organization for a basic level in Basis. As I'm a contract resource in here there wouldn't be possible for a move inside. Looking out. But sure Will update once I make. Also I'm not sure what the expectation will be for a concern to hire me off as a beginner in Basis.
Thanks much,
Lakshmi

Hi Lakshmi,
You can takeup the Basis module based on your interest and skills you can easily through the Basis Module.
It will be really worthy if you take up the certification in tht module campare to having only practical knowledge or training knoweldge based on your entry level position.
If you see in sap basis basis divided in two - SAP and DB
But i would like to tell some do and dont's here...
1, Don't ever resign from your existing job for studies. Today the world is very competitive so train your self to sail on multiple boats simultaneously.
2. Don't put all your investments nor into borrowings for investing into further studies your current earnings should be the source of investment into it.
3. Do keep 51% reserve for your fate and do your best for rest of 49% as even after putting your best efforts there is no assurance of success as your luck always runs faster than you.
All the Best!!!
Thanks
Nayeem.

Hi Lakshmi,

These are the certification available for SAP Basis depending on which database you are opting.
Link: https://training.sap.com/in/en/search?SolutionId=101
Cost would be around 40,000/- INR. The cost may vary time to time, so please contact SAP Education India for that. Email: education.india@sap.com
>Would that be a good idea to take up the certification and look into an SAP Basis jr level job?
Yes, but as cost is ver high remember what Nayeem has said.
Still I would say certification will definitely add value to your career. and if you go through the certification documents, you will get so many things to learn. I found interesting.
