Hi Reddy,
Question is not clear. Anyhow I am trying to answer. You have to get the job first to become SAP ABAPer and go to support project. If any helpdesk call comes from client and they need to enhance existing functionality for client.. you will need to code and extend the function with the help of functional consultant. If this is not a right answer, then write clear query to answer by forum members.

Hi Reddy,
The below is the process flow:
1. Helpdesk service call is received from Customer.
2. Service call is assigned to correct support team for example SAP SD, SAP EM.
3. SAP SD or SAP EM Functional Consultant owns the ticket and investigate what is the root cause.
4. If he/she can't find it business process functionally and through his knowledge of debugging
5. Then functional consultant request a developer to investigate what is the root cause with given examples in quality system.
6. Developer execute debugging in QA system and he/she finds a root cause and advise Functional consultant.
7. If it is system bug then functional consultant inform customer about the root cause.
8. Functional consultant create work request incident or enhancement and assign it to developer to fix it.
9. Developer execute development in Dev System and perform Unit Testing.
10. Developer inform functional consultant after moving into QA System to perform System Testing, System Integration Testing and Regression Testing.
11. Functional Consultant advise users to perform User Acceptance Testing after performing successful system Testing, System Integration Testing and Regression Testing.
12. Development transport request will be deployed into Production system after successful UAT testing by Basis Team.
The process may vary depends on customer or client nature or ITIL or depends on what framework they use.
I given full process flow to benefit functional consultant as well.
Cheers.

Hi Reddy,
Well that really depends on the team that developed the project.
If they were very efficient and built a error free code your scope of work would be limited but you would have ample amount of time to be in awe looking at these codes.
If the development team did not code well/ test their code well then you would be surrounded by countless tickets and you would be really freaked out at the development team but this situation will give you ample learning opportunity and a lesson of what mistakes you should not repeat.
My Suggestion would be to seriously look into ITIL. It is a requirement across all the Major MNCs Support project.
Apart from the above I guess Gopi covered everything above.

Hi
In the SAP support projects, as SAP consultants need to support for the business, for example if you are working any ISU utility - water project, all the business is run useing SAP ECC systems and for Business analysis and get the reports use the SAP BI.
So here SAP functional consultants (like SAP Billing,SAP DM,SAP FICA) support’s different applications, if end user’s have any issue’s, they will raise tickets to respective funcational consultant’s.
As ABAPer, if any customs code is used in the development of different functionality, to understand the functional consults need ABAPer’s help.
And even if any new custom developments, to write the coding need ABAPer’s help.
You can also become techno functional consultant.
