9 months ago i was hired by a manufacturing company they were migrating from oracle to sap. My designation was Trainee IT.
After my hiring sap implementation started.
I created some reports and bdcs during implementation. They provided me basis's end user training some SD knowledge because i was the only
person who knows SAP. Implementation did last for 6 months in between i did abap( some reports and bdcs). After implementation i did nothing in abap
but worked on basis (role, authorization everything in su01) and little SD,s conditions. After 8 months i left because there was nothing left in abap
for me because they gave full sap support to other company. I left with designation of Trainee IT.
Now for last 1 month i have been working in other manufacturing comp and my designation is ABAP Consultant. This comp have not given
SAP support to other comp because they have team of 6 SAP technofunctional consultant including me.
Now i want to go in software (SAP consulting) company and i will go for abap certification after one year without leaving my
current company before getting certified. If everything goes right thn after getting certified my total exp will be about more thn 2 years.
My question is..
1) . Would my Trainee IT exp be count as SAP experience if i write in my CV.
2) . Can i show it as SAP Implementation exp ?
3) . After getting certified with and having more thn 2 yers of exp (If trainee IT exp counts). will i get calls from
software (SAP consultinng) companies.

Hi Hermant,
My name is Ricky and I had work in SAP consulting firm for 4 years and now working as SAP Analyst on manufacturing company.
Here are my answer:
1. You can put Trainee IT Cum SAP Trainee.
The reason is because you do have SAP experience.
2. you can show your SAP implementation experience since you did develop some ABAP in SAP
3. Certification and some experience in abap definitely you might got called from SAP consulting firms.

Hi Ricky,
After getting certified with having more thn 2 years exp how much package should i expect from SAP consulting firms.?

Hi
In India company's will give 4-10L/year(min-max so you expect this range only for 2yrs exp peoples and as per my idea ).

Hi Mahesh,
I am asking for 2 years exp + certified ??.
Right now i am getting 1.8L/year having 9 months of exp.

Off-course depends on the company pay scale is different (ex: fresher sap abap in sap labs is 5L+ ).
So you can ask avg 20 to 45% hike its depends on your old Salary and your company etc.(and other factor i.e,your knowledge on SAP mod's ).

Hi Raj,
Few things that might help you:
1. Join consultant company starter package.
2. gather more points on SCN network in custom development area. (if you have good points, you might consider to put it into your resume)
3. Join company as developer, then request to change to SAP (this is my case)
4. Networking. expand your network to prove your skills in ABAP.
Well, those are my personal view and comments.

I am not sure how much market rate in your country, you might google some website regarding this, but do not expect sky high salary. Try to use another 1 year as learning period in pure development in SAP environment.
A big mistake is when someone has cert but their SAP background is not really strong, and yet they ask for high salary package.
