How to stay ahead only as an SAP consultant when people from different backgrounds and experience come into the world of SAP?
How can we offer more to this world by just having experience in any specific SAP domain?

Hi Pratyush,
Like you used the phrase "World of SAP", it clearly states that the different modules give opportunities to people from different back grounds and their experience adds value to their success and also to the organization they join. Experience gives confidence and adds value, if you can learn any other module besides the one that you are currently working then it will add value to your profile and you get an edge. Stay confident and keep learning from your work, contribute to SCN and learn from people.

Thanks Nagarajan for the reply.
I would like to know one more thing(i have a doubt), recently i have many rumors that one can not build a successful career in SAP just by sticking to one technology.
He/She should keep learning other modules of SAP also. Is it true, if true then how much it affects any one's career.
Thanks,
Pratyush

Hi pratyush,
No, its wrong statement. If you stick one module you will become master of that module.
But as per the work environment, you may get interest into learn other module also which was related or linked to your module. like most of the SAP module have the relation with FI/CO module.
If you learn some basic stuff of other modules, its may helped you lot dig about the issue without help of related module team. Having other module are always advantage to you.
Thanks

Hi Pratyush,
I believe whoever spread that rumor would have been either confused or trying to find some responses from people working in the industry .
I haven't come across anyone who is working in multiple modules of SAP except people having skills in combo such as (FI-CO, BI-BW, BI/BW-BO etc). I don't think any company makes someone play both roles (technical consultant & functional consultant), some people learn a new module which is complemented by their previous work experience or the module that they have been working in and switch modules. The most important thing that makes someone really knowledgeable and experienced is the depth of the module and business, it is important that you get more challenges as they give you more exposure and increase your reasoning and understanding of business. I get a feeling that you are an active professional and you don't ignore anything that comes to career and profession. Keep learning and never stop yourself from accepting challenges as that is the key to stay sharp and shining

Hi Ramanjaneyulu,
Thanks for the comments. As i am new to SAP and had heard a lot about it. So was just curious to ask.
Even i think it is better to become the expert in one field than not being the master of all trades and jack of none.
Thanks,
Pratyush

Hello Pratyush,
I would say staying ahead is very challenging and sometimes very demanding. The basics of SAP world is keep learning and stay right. i would suggest you keep learning as per your interest. Learn only what you can learn do not force yourself to learn something which you cant practice i would say. Some people have very fast learners and some are slower however based on your adaptability to learn different modules in SAP you should keep learning. Focus on staying right with your skills and keep learning ultimately you will stay ahead.
You are in right place here as i learned a lot from this community and perhaps will keep learning.
Keep sharing and keep learning
Best Regards
