Hi All

I am a certified SAP Business One Certified Solution consultant and working on SAP Business One for the past 2.5 yrs and done 4 implementations.

I want to migrate to SAP R/3 and have confusion on weather to join Project Systems/Material Management for training and pursue my career in the same. I want to do the Online Certification for the same.

I feel like Jack of ALL and Master on None after working on SAP Business One.

Pls guide me on the possible R/3 career options after SAP Business One and weather my experience in SAP will be counted for my future SAP career.

I am confused Pls help.

My opinion:

1) learn how to navigate in ERP (formerly R/3), this is different from B1

2) to start immediately, you can get the SAP ERP trial (aka minisap)

3) understand what are the available tools (like database browser etc.)

4) prepare for the fact that the functionality is "similar" but much simplier/ less complicated in B1

5) you can learn the basics of all the "modules" and development in B1 alone and work on your own, but in the big SAP bro, the ERP (all NetWeaver based systems) are far more complicated and to solve a single problem often a team is needed, because one can do only a little piece of a whole puzzle and cannot do a lot without the team

Because I have an experience in both systems, we can discuss the details here or feel free to drop me a line on my personal email. Maybe we could answer the basic questions and maybe publish some outcome then here on SDN.
