Hi,
I am SAP SD Certified Candidate (in 2014) from Delphi Computech, Mumbai. I opted for online course. I am Economics Graduate, completed my BA in the yr 1999.means 15 yrs back. Having experience of 15 yrs in life insurance sales, out of which 8 yrs worked as a consultant for insurance and other related consulting s and since last 7 yrs working for the same life insurance co in Mumbai as Sr. Relationship Manager for bancassurance sales channel.
Even after certification not getting jobs in the market because they count me as A FRESHER. So, planning to get experience on doing projects from the private institutes.
So, my question is - I need your suggestions and guidance regarding the same ( if am joining a private institute to get an experience ):-
1. What will best ways in my case to solve the problem?
2. What questions shall I ask them - on related topics?
3. What should comes into there syllabus if I am going for project, in terms of -- starting from basics , then implementation, then project work, then problem solving. Concluding - what kind of full course package it should be?
4. On how many projects shall I have to work?
5. Portion of Theory and Practical part?
6. Interview preparation and CV designing?
7. Is there any documentation part is also required for getting a job? and of what types?
8. Any names of good institute or coaching classes?
And one more question I am afraid of is that " is there any AGE BAR in the market? " Because presently I am of 38 yrs. and also Where I have to try to get the job and with what preparations.
Please suggest me with as much as possibilities.
All of you thanks a lot..

Rajesh,
Probably after undergoing training from a private institute, still you will be treated as a fresher in the job market. So, you will pretty much face the same difficult situation, that you are facing now.
The positive out of the training could be that you will get a better hold of SAP SD. But how much would that help in getting a job is difficult to say and it depends upon many factors - both are under your control (hard work etc. etc.) and not under your control (luck, job market etc.)
Perseverance is the key!
Good luck,
TW

Rajesh,
Answering your questions is not easy!
Lot more information is required. Further, you have to work tirelessly...even if there are many hurdles, road blocks along the way.
Even after certification not getting jobs in the market because they count me as A FRESHER. So, planning to get experience on doing projects from the private institutes.
What do you mean by projects? Have you spoken with any private institute? What details have they given? What could be the duration of the project? Who will guide you in the project? Will you have dummy clients?

Hi Rajesh,
Looking at the reality of SAP job market and your professional career, are you sure, you want to leave your 15 yrs of career in insurance sector and start as a fresher in SAP..? As you would have realised it, its not an easy ride.
Coming to your questions,
Normally private institutes, or even small companies for that matter, offer project facility to job aspirants just to gain some money. It may not be a real time project.
Is it an institute or a SAP consulting company ? unless its an SAP consultant company, they are offering you some dummy system (almost like an IDES)
About questions, rather than asking questions to them, you ask about them to any other person who has attended/attending this project.
Most of such places, only give you a system, with a dummy project in it. there wont be any good guides and real time scenarios to work on.
If you get a good trainer in such places, then it will be helpful for you, meet the trainer and ask him questions.
All the best to you

Rajesh,
Please provide comments to my questions.
Moreover, in SD, working in a day job is different from performing in an interview. The way of preparation is different.
Process understanding is important in SD. In SAP documents TSCM60 and 62, you can find information about standard SD processes. Keep reviewing those - all technical details e.g. Org structure, configuration objects (sales doc type etc.), basic functions (pricing etc.)

Dear Rajesh,
In my opinion, you should look for fetching a trainee role initially and work on shadow to
an sd consultant, rather than working on some private / dummy project.
Better associate yourself with real time consultants and offer them to work as their trainee.
This way you will gain real time sap insights.
Though this path will be little tedous at start.
But as they say - a work begun, is half done.
Rgds,
