Future of WM over EWM

Former Member

Hi,

Currently i am working as MM consultant, As part of career enhancement i learnt WM a year back but as i am busy with my MM work i couldn't practiced much.

Now i am again thinking of practicing WM more seriously but what i am hearing from all corners is WM will go obsolete soon and SAP EWM will be the future warehouse management solution to industry.

At the same time i learnt that WM is still good for small warehouses than implementing EWM as it is more complex solution and mainly designed for much bigger and complex warehouses.

So i am bit confused now whether to recap the WM which i learnt a year back or start learning EWM which i never seen before.

Request your suggestions on this.

Regards,

Raj

Hello Raj - it depends on the company and the size; the last company I worked at was larger and had WM. The current company I work at only uses inventory management

The long and short of it is that it never hurts to learn more - and adding EWM can't hurt.

I would also review the SAP learning journeys for MM/EWM/WM

How many years of experience do you have in MM.

If it is less than 5, then focus on MM. It is very difficult to make the time to learn a new module...main way of learning is practicing daily.

Hi Raj,

I wonder how much technical knowledge you gained during the last years.

EWM is definetly a more complex story and although it is embadded it still uses internally interfaces and the document flow is not as comprehensive as some customers may appreciate in their existing WM scenarios.

So as we experianced in the last years..pro and con for IM and WM and now also for EWM.
