Hi I have a mac book pro and wanted to learn crystal reports and xcelsius in a hands on way. I have created a partition on the laptop and am wondering which OS to install - Windows(if so which one) or Linux. Immediate goal is have an environment where I can use CR and Xcelsius with a non sap data source. My end goal eventually is to have an environment where I can use Crystal report and xcelsius with SAP ECC6.
I am trying to learn CR, Xcelsius with SAP ECC and SAP BW. Your ideas and isights are welcome.
Thanks

Hello,
my exprience regarding the topic is described here:
How to play around with SAP and Crystal reports, trial versions only:

If you like it or not, please let me know. I didn´t get far and would like to dig deeper and so would be cool to share our findings and discuss both the problems and opportunities.
Let me know if you´re interested,
cheers Otto

Hi Otto,
Thanks for the link. Your link will be a good start for me in terms of finding out the major components required to accomplish this 'project'. I am definitely interesting in collaborating and discussing the findings and exploring the areas of opportunity, so lets stayi in touch.
I dont have access to any windows os right now. So I am thinking about installing linux on my mac book pro since its free and probably going to beef up the ram to 3 gb (per my understanding max supported on my 2007 model). Hopefully this will get me going in the right direction.
Any recommendations on Suse vs Red hat. looking for something that is free.
Thanks

it is a part of my description: i suggest you download and install Windows server trial into the virtual machine.

The reason why I was reluctant with windows was because of the trial expiry period which is 30 days or so and I figured the linux route may be better because of no expiry strings. But I just checked out Red Hat's site and the enterprise server version is also a trial only. So in this case might as well go with windows. Will keep posting updates.
Thanks

UPDATE: I tried to install the NetWeaver ABAP Trial 7.01 on Win 2008 Server Standard Edition - 64 bit using virtual box and it kept failing with Fatal Err 1603. I am now trying to Install using Win 2003 Server Standard Edition and the install is on Phase 13 (Creating Database Schema) for last hour or so. Taskmanager shows that the cpu usage is almost 100%. I am wondering if this is normal or is the creation of DB schema taking abnormally long ? Did you encounter anything like this ?
Thanks

You´d better ask this question here: Trials, Previews & Other Downloads:
or maybe search for the answer, I guess this behavior was spotted already.
Unfortunatelly I don t have time to check on my own machine.

Hi,
I have installed the Crystal Xcelsius program to my computer, however I am unable to open the Xcelsius file sent by my colleague. Error message appeared as 'Invalid Version found PKXXX. Crystal Xcelsius expects version 1.1.0.2.
What am I suppose to do to resolve this?
