Hello,

I just need advise from the experts, I searched over google but nothing  helpful other than this site.

I am a business analyst with 2 years of experience.

Current Role: Requirement Gathering,Business Analysis,Gap analysis,UML,USE case diagrams

I am planning to take up a SAP module to increase my knowledge areas to learn something new and also to increase job opportunities due to the years of experience I am not preferred per-say for a any new openings for a BA.

I am confused on which SAP module I can go for. In one of the posts like this it was suggested to choose Sap SD but I am confused why sales and distribution its not relevant right ?

I am also planning to do my Ms in computer Science (fascinated with coding and development ) later in 1year or so if my BA thing doesn't workout .

I have a bachelors in Electronics and communication background working as BA... So I am bit confused as I am not sure which skill sets I can explore ?

---My Goal : I planned to get better at what I do, Challenging myself all the way and always learn something new and off-course pay will come later

Any suggestions from the experts would be highly appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

God Bless

Hi There!

I am not going to suggest you any specific module, just some pointers:

- With SAP, you can target either to begin as technical consultant or functional consultant

- You can read on techncal streams like ABAP, BASIS, PI etc

- Understand which area of business fascinates you. Is it Finance, Marketing, Sales, Supply chain, Warehouse Management, Production etc and accordingly you can target a specific module

- You may find yourself interested and related to multiple modules. You may look around for suggestions but final decision should be yours.

- Don't worry much on career prospects. It is just a perception. If you are good at any module it will not be difficult to progress in your career

- If you start with a particular module, don't think that you will remain restricted to that module. You will get opportunities to switch or to learn new (advanced) modules. I have seen many consultants changing their track. The profile can change from being a technical consultant to Functional consultant to Techno-Functional consultant

Hope this helps!

Well! All I can say is that look out for people in your friend circle (your seniors from college or your contacts in Linked in etc) who know you and who are working as SAP consultants

Consult them regarding your dilemma.  They would be in a better position to advice you as they know you n your abilities / interests to certain extent. Looking for a career defining advice from strangers (though experts) would be a risky option. I hope you get my point.
