Dear Experts,
With my experiance as Basis consultant I would wish to work on SAP testing. I would like to get some suggestions on
- Is that right option as a Basis admin to look for SAP testing.
- How is the market value and carrier path as a SAP testing candidate.

Hi Srinivas,
SAP Basis admin job is very hot and demanding job in the market.
SAP Testing is very specific to Function module, what you are going to test. You should have adequate implementation experience in testing any SAP Functional / Technical Module.
So, I can not comment on your personal interest moving from SAP Basis to SAP Testing.
Good Luck

Hi,
I had never heard about SAP testing in my life. I have met persons/jobs for testing applications (developed with ABAP, BSP, Webdynpro, etc) but this is something a junior programmer normally does and they select a junior programmer because of the lack of knowledge and experience before trusting him a complex development. You can imagine the salary !!
If you´re a Basis consultant you better stick to it and go deeper in your area for becoming an expert in everything that has to do with Basis. You could consider Enterprise Portal which is something that a system administrator configures.

Hi,
You must stick to your Basis domain and look for testing operations to ensure a stable and sustainable system.
Usually you will have Standard Operating Procedures and you may conduct preventive / proactive tests on regular basis or while the system is changed.
This kind of testing is a pre-requisite for the functional folks to conduct their tests.
Eg: Installation of support pack, enhancement pack and tests weather the installation is successful or not. Usually the system itself will say that the installation is successful, here you can check for dependencies and conduct some extended tests - manual / automation.
