as getting a job in SAP is not so easy , specially when it comes to SAP basis, as one need to be specialist , as i have seen in most of the job portals that demand one end to end full cycle implementation with in 3 years of experience in SAP BASIS, so i like to discuss is it really possible for a entry level professional to get implementation experience with in 2.5 or 3 years if one is not working in core IT companies. so what exactly a Jr. basis folks will at this situation.
i wants the views from the SCN members..

Hi Bishwanath,
You have posed the eternal question. "SAP Basis jobs want someone with experience but how can I get experience if no one will give me a job?" The answer to this question is not as complicated as you may think. First, you need to stop thinking of SAP Basis as an entry level job. Yes, it can be an entry level job for some folks, but very few. The most typical path is that you'll first get a job as an Operating System (Windows or Unix) or Database (typically Oracle) administrator. Best case scenario is that you get that job at a company that already has SAP installed. The vast majority of basis folks start that way. After a few years, someone in the SAP support group will move on for one reason or another. If you've been diligent and are recognized as someone who will go the extra mile to get things done, often that is all you need at that point. It is much easier/cheaper for a company to move a junior OS/DB admin from another part of the company to the Basis group and have them mentor under a senior Basis person than it is to hire an experienced person from outside. After a few years of hands on junior Basis admin work, you'll either get the company to pay for your training/certification or you can work on getting certified on your own with training on the weekends or you can look for a new job who will hire you based on your experience but who is willing to pay for your training.
The worst possible approach is to quit whatever job you have, pay big bucks to get 25 days of training and certification, and then start looking for work. You'll never be able to compete with folks who have hands on experience and will spend large amounts of time unemployed while the things you learned in class decay from your mind.
Please see the Blogs for students still in school or who have just graduated and Blogs for folks interested in Certification or just in learning SAP functionality sections of the SAP Career Blog Links blog. You may also be interested in the Career Path blogs and Basis blogs in the Blogs about the basics: terminology and information about specific subspecialties section.
Hope this helps!

hi tom,
i am trying my level best in order to get the hand on experience on day to day trouble shooting of the servers, but most of the people say that one must have at least one cycle implementation with a experience of 2-3 years as after that you will always remain in support level.. that really frustrating me some times..
