Career in SAP FICO for freshers

I've recently appeared for my B.com exam from Calcutta University and am expecting my results in July. I am interested to pursue a career in SAP, being a fresher, I don't have much idea on how to start.

The questions I have are:

1) Where should I take the training a local institute or an SAP authorized center? (I have no SAP experience)

2) What module shall I choose - SAP FICO?

3) Will I be able to get a job as a fresher just after the training?

Experts, please guide me.

Hi Amit,

Lot of people are shifting their carrer to sap after their bachelor degree is completed. So effectively there is competition.

Considering this fact you need to follow some steps in order to fulfil your dream of working in SAP.

You should first concentrate to learn SAP Financials and later Controlling module. There is no definite guarantee that you will get the job right away as a SAP FI or FICO consultant after you pursue your training or even certification as market always demand people who knows the business processes instead of just configuration or how to configure the system.

So first get into a company where you will be working as an end user in sap applications, let it be invoice processor,  asset clerk, inventory management, BPO kind of jobs where at least you will be continuiously looking at sap application.

By the time you have started working you will slowly realise & understand the business processes and basics and this will be your platform to gain the domain knowledge.

Side by side take a sap fico course from a small institute of your choice and start practicing the same at home.

Within a year or so now slowly you will be at least confidant to get into the interview for SAP FI Consultant. You have to accept the fact that in this cases also there are more chances that you will be hierd as a lateral hier or trained hier instead of experienced hier but never mind you have now got an opportunity to work at least as a FI or FICO Consultant.
