Hi,
I am a certified SAP FI Consultant and hold a MBA in Finance. I have over 3 years of domain experience spanning into management consulting and equity research. Have been looking out for junior level opportunities for a year now.
As a management consultant, I have rich experience in advising startups, venture-backed businesses, and corporations considering new initiatives and growth strategies in writing and developing strategic business plans and financial models. I have worked on over 50 business plan projects and have knowledge of business processes and business models of companies operating across diverse industry and industry verticals. In addition I also have experience in equity research where my area of focus was fundamental research of Indian Cement Industry. However, I do not have hands-on experience in SAP FI.
Could any throw some light on how to move ahead for getting the initial breakthrough in SAP?
Thanks in advance.

Dhawal Mehta

Hi,
Start up for any thing in this world is difficult wether it is a company, project, living in a new place, using a new software etc. but it's all depends on how you are starting and which way you are staring the particular activity.
So i would suggest you to certify yourself in SAP FI from SAP AG as SAP Associate Consultant, then you will have some ease in getting break through in your career wish to become a SAP FI Consultant.

an SAP Education Consultant.

Dear Sir, (SAP ATC)
As my posting states, I am a Certified SAP FI Consultant. I have done my classroom training and certification from Siemens, Mumbai in September 2008. It has been a little over a year since I completed my training and certification. My question was after have the given experience and certification what is required of an individual to get that "initial breakthrough"?
Thanks and Regards,

Hi Dhawal,
I think apart from your efforts, I think it requires luck and more importantly an opportunity. In SAP, newcomers always find it difficult to make through the first ladder of the SAP growth. So,as the market seems to be picking up,atleast that is what they are saying, please be patient, you have all the qualifications required to make the cut. It is just matter of time.
All The Best.
Vishwa.

Hi Dhawal
As per your background, you will not have a problem finding a job as a SAP FI Consultant.
Recently there are openings in corporates as well as consulting firms likes TCS, IBM where they want specifically 3-4 years of Work Experience.
But at the same time, it is at your disadvantage that you have not worked on SAP at all.
Just the "Certification" tag wont take you too far, so you will have to start working on it, either in some firm which will take you as an apprentice or a small consulting firm, or start applying as a SAP Fresher in consulting firms like TCS, IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Reliance, etc.
Keep your eyes and ears open as there are more than 10 job postings for SAP FI Consultants on LinkedIn groups, Times Ascent, and also through Siemens, where you did your training.
All the best for the initial stage! It's tough. We all have been there.

Hi Dhawal,
I know that has been a long time since you posted your question. But I´m in the same situation today (2012) and I would like to know how did you managed to start as a SAP consultant. I live in Brazil, a growing IT market and did my certification last December. I started to send my applications to consultant companies around my city and hope to dive in some project soon.
