Hi all,
Looking at the boom in SAP market drives me to think about getting into the SAP and I have been doing enquiry about the SAP and its modules from past 2 months in Delhi NCR but landed nowhere. I have completed my Bachelors in Arts and do have some 3+ years of experience in Customer Service, the said profile is free from any sales and marketing. I was thinking to opt CRM over other modules but on the other hand I got some suggestions from the working consultants in Genpact and HCL that the entry in CRM would be more difficult, so they suggest me to go for SD and told me to hit the SAP market first than it could be easy to get the training and placement in CRM.
Now, could you people give your valuable suggestions regarding the said issue and
*** What I heard that there are so many SD Consultants in the market as compared to CRM, is this true ?
*** Implementation of SD module in organizations occure more rather than CRM because with Sales its hard for the organization to run but could exist without Customer Relationship, how geniune is this ?
*** CRM is a vast field of explorence and needs live hands as compared to SD, how will you rate this ?
At the end, I want anybody do suggest me the module based on my following points:
* Education : B.A
* Experience : 3+ as Customer Service Executive (pre and post sales without marketing and sales part)
* Based on market demand
* Based on job availability
* Based on what I could get the job easily in SD, how much truth is in it ?
Thanking all of you in anticipation.

Dear Riyaz,
Please find the answers for your questions !!
1) Yes there are more SAP SD consultants in market than SAP CRM consultants
2) SAP SD is used where ever SAP ERP is implemented, but it is not compulsary to have SAP CRM module, very few clients go for it.
3) Yes CRM is a big ocean in itself.
I would say first try to get into SAP SD, understand the system and processes involved and then slowly you can try to get into SAP CRM
This is the easy approach !!

Dear Riyaz,
Since you worked in CS industry, I feel it should be easy for you to get good grasp of things .
Try to attend some demo classes in SAP SD and then you can get a feeling of what the system is and how it works.
And also most important is you got inculcate the habit of reading a lot, what ever that comes to you.
Make a habit of reading SAP SD module daily for half an hour , you will understand in better way, ask questions.
Getting an entry/job as a fresher may be bit tough, if feasible go for certification which will add value to your resume. or else try to search for some consultancies which will help you find a job as a contractor for one/two years. Then you can easily get a job anywhere.
And also most importantly, dont say you have a location constraint. Go anywhere as per the company demands.
I hope this helps !!

*** What I heard that there are so many SD Consultants in the market as compared to CRM, is this true
Obviously when compare to CRM because SD implemented by many industries hence SD requirement more relatively more consultants compare to CRM which came into the industry Since 2005 onwards if am not wrong relatively CRM was implemented by less companies hence compare to SD, CRM consultants are less. we can not compare both. i assume you got the difference.
Implementation of SD module in organizations occure more rather than CRM because with Sales its hard for the organization to run but could exist without Customer Relationship, how geniune is this ?
I think you can get the answer for the above with my above explanation.
At last one thing i can say. you can learn any either CRM or SD for your experience..
But for SD consultants Logistics back ground as domain is more preferable.
Example FMCG, Pharma or any distribution field.
But i have seen people both in CRM and in SD with out having proper domain experience have become successful in their career. So Please concentrate on the subject which you are going to learn.
You must be very good at basics which gives more confidence in your career as well as in getting job .
All the best. Please let me know if you need further help.
thanks,
srinu.

Thanks Srinu
I really appreciate your views but I couldn't make it sure that for which module I should have to go for (CRM or SD). I have visited so many training institutes regarding the same (non-authorized ones) and I felt like that everybody is selling their product in the market and when I came to contact with real time couple of professionals through reference of my friends, their views about being in SAP was that I should first have hands on SD as I could get the job easily in the industry and then could move to CRM but what my views are about the same is that if there are SD consultants everywhere than isn't there scarcity of jobs even for SD module ??
So, if you could make it more clear and precise for me that would be you kindness.

Hi,
This is my personal opinion, I might be wrong but this is what I believe.
SD has been implemented since many years from now, I know people with 14, 15, 17 years of experience in SD.
CRM ( Web Ui ) Has been implemented just a few years, experienced people have 5 o 6 years.
Basically for 18 years have learn SD and SD have been implemented all around the world. Result is for a new implementation (demand) there are a lot of consultants (offer) to pick from. In CRM now there are more / less implementations, but a lower number of consultants to pick from. Result:
CRM rates are now higher than SD rates.Easier to find a job at the current situation.
In some years from now, a lot of more people will learn CRM, and things will be equal or near.
From those 2, I will pick CRM (is what I do now) However I think they are other possibilities more interesting in SAP world than just SD or CRM. Of course that's a different topic.
