Career as SAP consultant age 42yrs

493

Dear Team,

I have 12+yrs experience in finance and planning to switch career from financial analyst to SAP consultant at the age of 42. Planning to do SAP certification.(FICO)

Need some guidance

Are there enough opportunities in market currently for SAP CONSULTANT for this age?

Would I be considered as fresher, even if I have good finance domain knowledge?

If you are going for certification, I recommend looking at S/4HANA finance, where FI and CO have merged.

You can take some free courses at open.sap.com on S/4HANA

42 is young these days - in the US you would still have 25 years of work ahead of you before retiring. So to me it depends on where you are located. Overall you are not too old for this type of change in my view.

I've seen a shortage of SAP resources, and in terms of being a "fresher" it depends on the job/position - perhaps not if you are an internal SAP resource to a company using SAP.

Good luck.

Hi Priti,

With my 12(almost) years of experience into the field of SAP( I am into Technical), starting from the age of 23 till now I have noticed one thing!!!

The amount of refinement that comes with the solution(s) provided by an experienced resource is really unmatchable, whether it's Technical , Functional or whatever. People who possess experience spanning across years into a domain, their solution are always stable I have noticed. So definitely as Tammy hinted this 42 is just a number 🙂

Thanks,

Sijin
