Dear All,
I am working on SAP since last 1 year on BASIS.
I have total more than 10 years of experiance and I am good on Oracle DBA activity (in Unix, Windows and Linux environment), Oracle Developer and good knowledge of general O/S administration.
I have both as DBA and Developer experience. I have also OCP Certification in Oracle 9i.
After that I got opportunity to work on BASIS. Due to my privious experience in Software, Database, O/S administratoin, now I am good familierwith BASIS activity and exploring more.
My question is I also want to learn ABAP.
As per my experienace if I learn ABAP, it can helpful to me in future.
Can I get future assignment on all the skills on which I have a experiance ?
Thanks,
Nt

Hello,
I would not believe that but I have a colleague, it is a woman (!!) who was working as as AM and FI consultant in a non-SAP company then moved to SAP basis team (a woman doing basis (!!) ) and now is doing SAP FI. Everybody who is intersted can do the basis and move to other field I think. The only problem is if your background "helps" you with the programming. She has never programmed a line herself. But she is not that bad in the consulting:))

Hi,
your background in the developing will help you to understand ABAP which is based on SQL.
By this way you have a very good base for both SAP Basis and ABAP. Me personaly I came from ABAP to BASIS SO we meet on the way....
Good chance
Best regards
