To get better visibility I am re posting this post from Career corner. I hope someone will come forward and will clear my doubts.
Hi Folks:
I am very new to this forum and SAP community & this is my first post so please bear with me a moment. I assume I am posting at right place.
Recently I am thinking to shift my career towards SAP FICO. Idea is to eventually convert myself in to FICO functional consultant. I can also see across the internet so many non accounting/finance back ground people are jumping in SAP FICO area so I thought why not I should try this area, especially when I have some idea about Finance.
First Let me give some my background. I am US citizen but originally from India (Dammit another Indian ), and I have never worked In India. I have done my BS in Accounting in US,(B.com from India) and started my career in operational accounting around 10-11 years back in US. At present I have total 10+11 years of Progressive Operational Accounting experience, which most of them with large organization. At presently I am working in area of Financial Reporting-Preparation of Financial Statements- Consolidation-10k-10Q perpetration etc. I have quickly look few SAP FICO basic and I have not found anything new (Concept wise) for me. Also I could be very well wrong and overconfident because I have not used SAP yet. I would also like to add that I am very much familiar with ERP concept and Business Finance-Flow.
My question to SAP FICO expert in US or anywhere, what is the biggest Challenge I will face, after doing SAP FICO course form some Academy?
What are the job prospect for me in USA? At present I am gainfully employed.
What hiring manager look in your resume for functional consultant? Fake implementation experience (which I am sure they are aware of it) or they will give chance to someone with strong Finance background with real operational and reporting accounting experience but no fake resume/experience in SAP. Will they give a chance to groom? Or World is not fair so I have to lie, which is very hard for me to do.
What are the other general advice would you give to someone who want to enter into this SAP consulting area.
Your input will be highly appreciated!
Thanks,
