Hi Ranjeet,
Don't get disheartened. It is certainly NOT a shame to be a trainer. You can groom yourself in this training profession and you might evolve as Training Manager. There is huge demand for SAP Training Manager, Trainers, Training Content Developers across the industries. Along with your training abilities you need to polish your soft skills as well because that is important to be a successful trainer.
I would advise you to focus on your goals and don't allow negative thoughts to influence you.

Shanu Patil.

Hi Shanu,
Thanks for your concern.
i have experience of 3.5 years in SAP field i have very good knowledge .but the thing is all wants real time exposure ,how i can get? no one is giving me chance to proof my skills.
2014 May 06 3:56 PM
Ranjeet,
First of all, you need to decide for yourself if you need to make your career as Trainer or as a consultant. If you want to work as consultant and don't have experience, I would suggest you to take up the certification and then apply as Entry level Consultant. Usually, I remember in India, the period for hiring entry level SAP candidates will be between June to August. But, remember, you MUST have SAP certification.
Hope I have answered your query.
If you need further guidance, you can write me at <<Personal Information Removed by Moderator>>
Regards
Shanu Patil.

Rather than sharing mail contact at discussion forum please share email at your profile.
2014 May 06 4:14 PM
Yup. That is also fine if anyone can contact me directly on SCN. I mentioned my email because not all of them will like to discuss their career path publicly. I have no issues in open discussions if someone prefers.
Cheers,
Shanu Patil.

No.. That's not fine. If you want anyone can contact you, then give all information in your profile, but not in any content (discussion, blog, document, wiki etc).

Dev,
Is it really necessary to include link to your BIF entry in all the replies?
All replies already have link to your bio, and your bio is linking to BIF entry.

How is sharing email address "solicitation"?
same question applicable to point6 mentioned in SCN RoE
Solicitation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Solicitation," the act of soliciting, means simply to ask for something.[1] In criminal law, it most commonly refers to either the act of offering goods or services, or the act of attempting to purchase such goods or services. Legal status may be specific to the time and/or place where solicitation occurs.
verb \sə-ˈli-sət\
: to ask for (something, such as money or help) from people, companies, etc.
: to ask (a person or group) for money, help, etc.
could you please help with this query

I have to admit that I am not so fluent in English to know the meaning for every word. There are some words which have so many different meanings in German when I check the dictionary that I rather try to understand the meaning behind the sentence instead of translating single words.
Regarding the email address posting I want to say that there is a dedicated and secure place where the email address is stored, the user master, which even allows an alternative email address. Each user can decide himself if he wants to make it visible or not, hence there is no need to post the email address in the content. I find it strange that one hides his email address in the user profile but posts it in the content.
In general you should not post your email address in content of forums, no matter what forum. Never heard about bot programs who search the Internet for email addresses to use it to send SPAM mails to or from this address?
Saying "NO" for posting email addresses is actually taking care about the users privacy.
And of course the main purpose of the forum is to exchange knowledge online so that every reader can benefit from. A place just to exchange email address and post requests to get material send by email is neither attractive for visitors nor for the owner of the platform.
What do you believe which material is exchanged by email? legal or illegal stuff? If the material is owned by the sender, then I ask me why he does not post it as document in SCN to make his points.
How would your reaction be if you see a question "Send me ...." and the answer is "done" and the poster of this "done"-message receives 10 points for correct answer? You don't believe it? It took me just 2 minutes to find this example:
How will a moderator ever be able to decide if this is point gaming?
It was epidemic in the past (just search SCN with: send me) and it was written clearly in previous rules of engagement. It has made room now for other hot issues, which does not mean that it is allowed now.
Now you should go back to the subject of this discussion otherwise the moderator here should move it to the coffee corner.
My two cents to this discussion. Maybe the uncle just checked the history of the applicant in SCN and what he said was just a faked reason.
2014 May 11 6:24 AM
Dear Jurgen Sir,
Why will i post fake ? what i experienced i shared it in this discussion .i don't want to post any fake to get more replies.
2014 May 11 7:43 AM
Rajneet,
While replying, you need to check to whom he replied.
Jurgen replied to TW not you.
Thanks
2014 May 11 8:06 AM
I had not said, that you posted fake, I said that you may not have received the real truth as answer when your application got rejected.
2014 May 11 8:50 AM
Raman,
More important than to whom one has replied is to what he has referred.
Ranjeet's question is valid and Jurgen has cleared it.
Note: For me (as a functional consultant) if not clear then ask or paraphrase. Good that Ranjeet asked.

Point allocations aside, I've noticed this too. One person starts with "can u pls send me..." and the kind person wanting to help replies with "advise me of your email". Suddenly, a heap of people just in with "send to me too".
How do I react? - I press Alert Moderators If anything to avoid this from happening

yes please alert a moderator if it is a new request (I think it is too much effort to work on the several thousand old threads for some moderators. I removed 300 such discussions from MM after I had posted my answer)
2014 May 13 2:37 AM
I have been caught out with "old threads". Someone replies to one from 2009 and it appears on my activity thread. I click on the link and press alert and then realise it's an old thread and moderation/community tolerance levels have changed since then.
If SCN was open to a "Junior" Moderator (cut down access/authority) to clean-up old content I'd be interested in assisting.

Yep, same here!
@topic: In a tough market it's sometimes about connections (like your former student), sometimes about luck, but that will just help you in getting a job. Keeping it takes knowledge and work and spirit and the will to learn and keep on building your experience.
Right now it seems you have a lot of theoretical knowledge, but I think we all know that in the end only practical knowledge, the things you learned doing a project, daily work and support is what keeps the wheel going. You can know all you want, if you haven't tried it in a real situation to see, if that actually works, it's still just like reading a book. Experience is the key word here.
So if you want to be more than a trainer (which is a great job, too, btw), you need to build up practical knowledge. Midhun gave a nice description for participating in SCN in his MotM-blog:
"Helping others in SCN to solve their issues is like a "hands on" that really helps you to become a quick troubleshooter at your work."
So maybe that is a good way to start without jumping into the unknown and quitting your safe job.

Steffi.

Although sharing email address is not "solicitation", in the case of Shanu Patil, it is, since she is a recruiter/works for a recruiting company.

Colleen, Steffi,
Probably there might be a place or a contact email address in SCN where you can volunteer (or "register"). Your interest to participate as a moderator (or junior moderator) might not reach the correct "ears", if you voice that here only.
I had once read a thread, something like - How to become a moderator?
Probably you can search for it too.
2014 May 13 3:03 PM
kishan,
Thanks for replying!
In retrospect, I should have requested you too. As you are an active the moderator in this forum. Anyway.
Even now I do not get the point of "Solicitation" -
A members who is a recruiter had given her email address, is she asking for help or anything? (as the definition above pasted)
What jurgen mentioned with an example about members getting points, in threads; and that is not transparent for the moderators or other scn members is valid.
But how is giving an email address in a thread solicitation? as Dev put it -
Its against The SCN Rules of Engagement | SCN
Option 6-Avoid solicitations.
SCN can say that this is against the rules. That is fine. But "avoid solicitation"....???
For me it a big word which does not fit or make much sense (in this context)
2014 May 13 3:09 PM
TW,
Thanks for this. It is shadow to experience the open discrimination. Even I am SAP HR consultant but SAP Recruitment is my passion and I don't find it so low profile as I am being treated in this discussion. I was just trying to help consultants. It saves so much of time and resourcers if a recruiter understand SAP and that is exactly what I do.
But, I am shocked to see this kind of open discrimination especially on SCN.
Cheers,
Shanu.
2014 May 13 5:11 PM
TW,
The reply from Shanu cannot be categorized as "solicitation". I guess Dev just misinterpreted the word. If I were to hit the "Alert Moderator" I would choose "Private Information" from the drop-down.
My reference to the comment that it was "solicitation" was to convey that "it might be solicitation after all because she's a recruiter...". Well comment was not intended to be taken on a serious note

Shanu,
Firstly, there's nothing shadowy or "low-profile" about being a "recruiter".
Secondly, there is no discrimination being shown to you either. If that was indeed the case, I wouldn't have approved your blogs in the Career Center Space.
You are free to post anything within the ambit of the rules of SCN here.

Dear Shanu,
There is no discrimination!
I have participated in SCN for some years and I have witnessed two things - one people want to share (give) and learn & the other people want something e.g. recognition, limelight and or/ points...but never have I seen picking on someone.
Your posts in this thread have been appreciated by the OP and by me...these might add value to many members. So, please keep posting and helping.
Thanks!

Hi Ranjeet,
Hope you are doing good !!
No need to be disappointed, just concentrate on the things you're doing now. You'll be rewarded soon & recognized by others only by your knowledge .
You can follow and can take an e.g of .He will be the right person who can navigate and guide you better than us for you future paths.
So at the end just wait for the favorable time and definitely you'll be honored.

No. Do not use fake resume. See the blog Why faking your CV would hunt you for life?
Upload your CV to various consultancy like as naukri, monster, shine etc.
And update your profile once in a week. And apply relevant jobs.
It will take some time, you have to be patient.

Hi Ranjeet,
first of all, i will suggest you to not make any decision because of someone's thinking. You can see yourself that you have tought a student, and he get selected because he has a relationship there, but your candidature was dropped saying that "you have only teaching experiences".
Why not you understanding that it may be a formality done by the concerns because if they seriously needs any person , he will surely hire you because atleast you have more knowledge wth respect to that guy who get selected because of relationship.
So, don't get frustrated, because you are not doing any wrorg thing, i have seen many professionals who provide training and after that got a good career ahead.
So, just walk as usual, you will get success , and never loose any hope.

Ranjeet,
A trainer is different from a consultant. Their goals are different, tasks are different, exposures are different.
After 3.5 years of training, do you find any value addition is continuing with a trainer role? if your goal is to be a consultant.
2014 May 09 4:39 PM
Hi Tw,
what is different trainer from consultant ,with out learning SAP from the trainer you have become consultant straight away ?
thanks
2014 May 09 4:54 PM
Ranjeet,
TW meant that training is different from consulting career. As I explained to you earlier that Trainer is different role altogether. Consultant's do learn from trainer but they have real exposure when they go on project. Consultant need to apply their knowledge on the project. So, if you wish to be hands-on, you need to get on the project and leave training. So, you have to decide on your goal.In simple terms, A professor at Engineering College is not called as Engineer.

Ranjeet,
If you want to get into the SAP consulting world then you have to try in that direction specifically.
If you have the financial resources, I suggest you quit the trainer job. And start full time search for entry level roles e.g. Junior consultant etc.
Choose one module and keep preparing for interviews and reply to real-time issues, those you can find in SCN and other SAP sites.
Make up your mind and stick to that decision for 5 years. Things will turn in your favor.
